Quoted from iceman44:

And an absolutely fantastic pin I might add

Glad you finally got it Ice. Just in time for lockdown.

I’m seriously thinking about buying this or Elvira Le mostly because our currency has collapsed since this stupid pandemic. Any new games are going to be obscenely priced.

All this talk about the orbit on R&M had me thinking about JJP POTC which has multiple orbits and none are smooth. Here's a slow motion video of the ball transition from the inner to the outer main orbit. I'd say a third of the shots would reject and roll back. I ended up making a custom bracket to reinforce the back rail which reduced flex/bounce and helps a bit. But basically the geometry it not good.

Damn - well if that paragon of reporting and skilled pinball playing Kanada didn't love it I better sell my spot RIGHT NOW!

Hopefully not at a huge loss.

That says it all Hilton, clueless. But you can't be any bigger of a RM sycophant. We all know it. That's why you have not an ounce of credibility.

STH is awesome.

The results of actual delivery are starting to roll in

I hope you are joking??? Honestly can’t tell.

Rick and Morty kicks ass! Sooooo looking fwd to when my personal game arrives later this year. The game is really good IMHO. Favorite to play currently and excited for even more new code.

ST genuinely is a complete dud. If the ramp got fixed, it could get closer to AFM style fun but honestly any fan layout is pretty or boring to me now.

Any word when we can expect new modes to be added?

Maybe attaching some flap on the side post before the flipper slowing the ball down?

Another cool Gif, but that shot definitely looks clunky. With the angle of that left ball guide, combined with the post and rubber on the left of the ramp entrance, I could see how this one would reject unless the shot is perfect. Has anyone tried removing the rubber on that left post to open the shot up a bit?

I suggest taking some time to straighten out the bump in the orbit rail above the upper flipper.
In you gif I see the ball hoping off the rail so it is not coming directly parallel to the upper right flipper.
You ball is taking (the exagerated green line route) You want it to take the red line route so it comes off basically parallel and (depending on ball speed) sliding down the upper flipper.

Your game is going to shoot even better once you make that adjustment IMHO.

I've just put a couple dozen plays on it, but here are some quick thoughts:

1. As others have said, GREAT theme integration!
2. The shots are unique. The shots will create an itch in your brain that makes you want to play again and again and you will want to scratch this itch! Up there with JP2 or TZ for funk factor on layout! And I mean this in a very good way.
3. All the shots work well on mine. The inner loop works well for initial entry (and - unlike the K-Man's experience, I usually hit it 3-5 times a game on average), but the ball occasionally gets stuck up top. It could be a bit more smooth for sure. I'll play a bit more and will tweak, as necessary.
4. As for overall MOJO score in the all-time category...it's a bit premature but I'm guessing this will end up as a solid second-tier game (i.e. ranked somewhere in the Top 30). It's fast, furious and Fun! ... and ya can't go wrong with the "Three F's" ! It's maybe not Twilight Zone or JP2 great, but certainly an excellent game. As a fan of the show, I'm extremely pleased with it.

if from my route game, then that has been fixed and much better after you do that adjustment.

Quoted from dnapac:

Like I said, set it up right and it’s a blast!!

I just played this game at LAX and it was a lot of fun. I pretty much only played this and time fantasy.

Question for the group. When dialed in, can you make the spinner loop repeatedly and fast like getaway or the shadow? Thanks!

Yes. I’ve got three or four in a row, but then the speed of the ball gets too fast to accurately hit the shot for more (at least for me).

Okay great. The one I was playing if it went around it barely made it. I made 5-6 in a row in the plunge but the were never fast at all. Just kind of barely made it each time.

Just noticed the videos posted above too. That’s encouraging. Thanks again.

Can you elaborate what you mean by taking the bump out? Are you talking about simpley repositioning the metal guide by or did you need to bend it to correct some non-flatness?

I enjoy listening to Kaneda but from personal experience his reaction to the two shots is greatly exaggerated. Yes they are challenging. Garage shot I found easier than that spinner one but I don’t think any adjustments was made to it as the game still had packaging on the ship! I still could hit 2-3 per game. Once tweaked I’m sure it will be more.

Bigger takeaway is a clear message to spooky. Tweak the spinner shot BEFORE you ship this. Knowing them I’m sure they’ll listen and take the necessary action. I would not let those two shots be there reason to pass on this game.

I thought they have been, along with the wire form off the shooter lane? Wasn’t it said it’s from shipping? Maybe add some foam to help keep those items from bouncing around too much?

If garage shot is so hard, just code it so the reward is huge when you get it!

Imagine a massive count down jackpot, like IM and you need to have to hit garage for a huge cash in.

If you don't , you just don't collect.

#11779 4 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

Somehow people seem to gloss over some words. I specifically said “for a review”
The guy does not really play pinball. He is on the opposite end of the spectrum for sort of player whose game play opinion I would value at all. And yes, anyone that takes Kaneda’s opinion on any game as worthwhile is dumb as a rock in my book.
The guy is shock jock entertainer, and not any actual value of a critical or constructive review.
This is demonstrated even further by his review after playing a handful of games. The little value that would come from his review is the perspective of a non-player.
Game is on the challenging aide and I would never expect someone with his limited skill to like it or be able to get a handle on it in a single session where he played 5-10 games.

He's a casual player with average pinball skills like myself, so yes - I value his opinion more than highly skilled competition players
And... I do feel my intelligence is higher than the average rock as I am a very successful business owner

That being said, as an operator and someone who spends a lot of time with the games - I actually also really value your opinion.
See - with my superior intelligence, I have the capacity to listen to several points of view and pick and chose the comments that relate to me personally.

it kinda reminds me of the Stan shot in SP, if you dont hit that dead nuts on, it gets caught in the pops or just rattles half way up and falls back down.

I think the positive with the rattle of that rail, which definitely exists, is that when it fails, at worst it heads up to the ship or down into the pops.

Personally, I'd like to see lots of footage of that shot, to see how effective those rails are.

Regarding Rick and Morty, anyone here head to Birdfish in Youngstown in the past few days? I wanted to see if matches have been turned on, and any adjustments made. Might head back tomorrow...!

#11786 4 years ago

I am personally not concerned about any tweaks or adjustments to be made on this game.

As you might have seen on my houdidni tweaks and adjustments experience, there are always ways to make a game work perfectly.

This game looks about par for the course on adjustments, nothing really serious.

I do however want mostly completed code with 10 or more dimensions.

Im getting fed up with waiting 2 or 3 years for meaningful code updates.

So the jury is still out as to whether or not I actually open the box and play this game or route it or sell it.

I really looked forward to playing it at TPF, but thats not happening.

There are no examples near me to play before I receive my game, finding a game to preview would really help out.

#11787 4 years ago

Would it be worth exploring (and is it possible), to potentially shift the location/orientation of these two tabs to amplify the curve of the inner orbit, in particular the bottom one? Instead of having the bottom tab be completely perpendicular, perhaps tilt it to an 11:00/5:00 position. Couple that with opening the bottom of the guiderail to max size, it could solve the issue. Or maybe it's not necessary?

TheNoTrashCougar I totally get a lot of thought, planning and work goes into this, so apologies if I'm coming across as an armchair quarterback... I'd rather share an idea and be told I'm wrong, if there is the possibility that it could help.

Hilarious how anyone with a questioning or dissenting voice is shouted down... or it’s implied they’re inadequate or ill equipped to have an opinion. Lame.

Rather than hawking over this thread, go find and play the game yourself. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t. Maybe you’ll find a machine that’s smooth as butter... maybe you’ll find some clunk.

Experience it and make up your own mind.

#11790 4 years ago

Glad Scott and Kaneda chatted it up! Was casual, friendly, and gave some insight for slight adjustments.

Nice to see a designer reach out to discuss his passion project, and equally so for a media dude to be receptive to discussion.

Seems like bigehrl John from Jack Bar has made changes, shoots much better, and will talk about it soon..!

He actually said some pretty stupid shit about the design in his first vid. At one point even making the claim that the shots were so bad that they never should have made it past the White Board stage. I geet it, he was ranting...but his tone in the second video indicates he knows he went a bit over the line, there.

Again, I was pointing out that the 10% shot success rate was ridiculous and that perhaps there was a setup reason for getting that result on that machine...we haven't heard back yet on the results post adjustment.

The other contention was : Is 40 - 60 minutes on a machine sufficient to make the calls he was making. I still say, no. He might have been there for 2 hours and yes, you get the full effect of the Theme Integration, Lights, Music, Art, etc while others play it...but you have to flip a lot more than 10-15 games to start impugning the designer and his work, imo.

shot is much better now. i spoke to Scott and we experimented with some tweaks that hadn't been really discussed before (to my knowledge). i implemented them, and the shot can now be ripped. Chris discusses them with me in the show that will post later today. if anyone has any further questions after hearing that, feel free to hit me up. i'll try to post some pix later, too.

Similar tweak can be made to the garage rail to make it absorb the bounce and complete the shot more regularly - but I don't know yet if it's advisable to do so. I did it on the white wood and now pretty much any shot that makes it into the opening makes it to the garage.

Never met you but next time I'm in the city for business I have to stop by. You sound like the ideal operator. Common sense and takes a lot of care of his games.

Glad to hear things are working better and you're contributing to the greater good Cheers

That's great! Hopefully Scott will share this tweak with the Spooky staff so that they can make the adjustment when future games are on the line.
