Being a prior Spooky customer, and knowing how they care about their product and customers, they are only ones in the industry that would even stand a chance of getting any of my NIB money.
And now with a relevant theme like Rick and Morty, in my mind, they are the only pinball company that matters.
Quoted from mzhulk:They should of kept the spooky theme and created a Evil dead or Halloween pin.
This isn't the stone age dude. Not everybody is stuck in the 70s or 80s. lol.
Quoted from drfrightner:Stern I think announces a new game in a couple weeks, JJP will have something in a month or two, Deep Root is announcing games. Lots of stuff coming soon!
I can hardly wait.
51YXw1DZ5cL._SX362_BO1,204,203,200_ (resized).jpgQuoted from Daditude:No.
I was thinking the same thing. This demand for this is probably a LOT more than 750
Once it and word gets out, no doubt.
It's the perfect storm of pinball that's been in the media quite a bit lately and finally a theme super relevant to now.
I know several locations already this would be perfect for.
One of my pinball friends who is in his early 20s just called. He is quite good in tournaments and has played every game imaginable.
I've never heard him so excited about a theme in the five years him and his dad have been coming over. He's always putting R+M an my TV whenever he's here. lol. I go way back on adult swim myself. This is going to be good.
Quoted from TigerLaw:When can we order? Thanks.
My thoughts exactly. I'm looking for the line for repeat customers.
A thought has been going thru my head. I remember when South Park saved pinball soley on theme. For some reason, when I think about it, this is about the most excited about a theme as I have been since then.
Quoted from aeonblack:Did it?
It was the only game in town. Think about it. The year was 1999
The one I played was in a pizza joint called Double D. It told me pinball was still alive. And it had the profanity roms, so I dumped as many quarters as needed.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:If South Park would have been inside the Pladium bar at West Ed in 1999 instead of swe1, I wouldn't have gone nearly 10 years without playing a new pinball again. I thought what the Hell happened to pinball after 2 games of swe1 and had no interest of playing more.
As a seasoned player the only thing wrong with South Park were the huge scoring holes in the playfield. But when all the other pinball places dried up, it was a good game to get my fix. Even my infant daughter at the time found it amusing.
Back in the 1990s a buddy told me there should be there should be a Ren and Stimpy game. I guess it's too late for that.
Quoted from Borygard:I truly haven't been this excited about a new game since TZ was new.
Well, that beats me on South Park for sure.
Quoted from benheck:Cartoon pins are an untapped gold mine.
Meanwhile over at Stern-
"What we need to do now is reboot The Flintstones. But this time we are going to base it on the original animated TV series.
And we need to have it ready by Christmas"
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Hey don't forget the SUPREME video had like a million views! Right Odin?
I want the Rick and Morty Supreme edition.
My friend Pinmister.
Now that guy has a real sense of humor!
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-def-leppard-vs-stern-van-halen-
Quoted from bgwilly31:Sooooo how Many people are big fans of R+M that DONT Smoke pot?
Quoted from chooch:Whatever price they were considering likely just went up considering how people are tripping over each other to send money now without seeing any pics.
Thankfully, I for one am not one to get caught up in any pinside hype. Emotions in check. Barely.
One thing about Spooky games, when the mystery box arrives, there is usually no mystery. Best damn playfields in the business.
Quoted from PW79:Stern really should have picked up the Rick & Morty license for the Iron Maiden PF.
Then nobody would want it.
Quoted from Zablon:Metalocalypse would be cool too.
I've been asking for that one for years.
Sign me up for a William Murderface LE.
Quoted from bgwilly31:Theres no way in hell Stern would do this theme. Wayyyyy to vulgar with the language and content.
Have they even used a swear word since Met? lol
Quoted from fisherdaman:Remember when AC/DC first came out and there was a segment of pinside that thought that they had too much devil references in it?
Yep.
Thankfully, when in need, my T-2 will still tell me "F#@k You A$$hole"
Quoted from homebrood:Wow this thread has legs! 11 Pages in less than 24 hours!
Sure didn't peter out as fast as that Led Zeppelin thread.
Quoted from Vino:They were the first with the recent pf issues that impacted a handful of us. Mainly left unnoticed by the numbers compared to the JJP/sterns.
To their credit they were responsive, have since resolved issues, and will consider a future purchase.
I know, I was one of them. And was taken care of in less than 15 minutes after reporting it. Not getting into details, but it was not caused by the quality of the wood or the clearcoat.
Quoted from ufotofu:If Spooky followed the same logic as Munsters
I was like 3 years old when that show was on. lol.
Like I really want a pinball machine to remind me of my toddler days. lol.
Quoted from ThatOneDude:Yeah, I'm kidding. I own a Munster Premium, and I'm in my 40s.
So the logic is to market to those that wish they were toddlers when I was?
Quoted from transprtr4u:When are they going to release pictures of the game?
Join the fang club and you will be one of the first to know.
Quoted from ThatOneDude:I think I'm an outlier when it comes to themes like Elvira and Munsters. My wife and I were both fans of those shows(and the original Addams Family, and the late night horror shows, etc) growing up, even though they were deep in syndication by then.
I get it. When Munsters first ran, I was more into a show that was already in syndication.
But I'm not holding my breath we'll ever see a The Lone Ranger pinball machine.
Quoted from Looking4FirstPin:I know this may be a silly question, but where does one join the Fang Club? I cant find it on Spooky’s website, aside from a Fang Club sweatshirt.
Click on "shop" then upper right hand corner.
Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:All this hype before we have seen a pic, watched a vid or seen a game.
I trust what Borygard has to say. He's a straight shooter if there ever was one.
Quoted from Borygard:I truly haven't been this excited about a new game since TZ was new. Everything I've seen to date, has this game on track to being a smash hit. They've nailed everything!
Quoted from mnpinball:I’m pretty sure a large group of the Fanbase cannot afford pinball machines.
Same with those Elvira and Munsters fans scraping by between social security checks.
Quoted from TheLaw:It's actually a gen Xer playing with a Gen Z, but thats close enough for the internet.
It will be those that are or think like Millenials and GenZ playing mine. We don't want nothing to do with GenX around here.
Quoted from metallik:Says the dude rockin' a BM66... that show is 15 years older than Movie Macabre. See you at the bridge club, O-din!
I got rid of that thing faster than you can say geritol.
Quoted from metallik:Just as LS was getting it to be pretty fun?
It was like Met, I couldn't take it anymore before they even made it out of beta code.
I was trying to be hip with the pinside crowd but found I wasn't being hip with myself. Lesson learned.
Quoted from metallik:Wouldn't it be something if every R&M got snapped up by a prior Spooky customer? OTOH it would be quite the bummer if 750 wasn't enough to satisfy even *that* demand....
At least it won't be anything like that TBL EA debacle. I got my message in already. Not sure what good it's going to do as far as place in line, but I'm buying one.
Quoted from metallik:'Gratz on the TnA, I assume that replaced the caped crusaders?
Yes it did. But the caped crusader went on location where it has been earning very good ever since. As far as met, my musical tastes had changed dramatically since I was an 80s headbanger and I just couldn't go back there. It was a well built solid machine though.
Quoted from tomdotcom:Spooky posted why. Read their posts in this thread.
I had a hard time finding it but it got hidden in the quote of this post-
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rick-amp-morty-pinball-from-spooky/page/6#post-5335828
Quoted from Zablon:but..but..I'm a GenX-er...
You just come on over here and become one with us hipsters for at least the evening and you will be more than welcome to partake.
Quoted from Electrocute:Right now it’s just a theme with no machine.
This isn't deeproot, chum.
Quoted from lpeters82:Say's the guy who probably introduced Suprime to a bunch of Pinsiders. The pinball machine was seriously my first introduction to the brand...and I'm considered a Millennial.
I'm just trying to stay hip, man.
download (2) (resized).jpgQuoted from ThatOneDude:That would make a great retro EM game....
I've had enough EMS with cowboys.
I want a Lone Ranger with a mega sound system blasting the theme song and a full size LCD screen! Black and white of course.
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:I just hope this brings more people to pinball and advances the hobby.
I've never really cared much about this "bring more people into pinball" thing.
However there is no doubt in my mind once this game goes on location in some of the breweries and other spots in the college town I live in, it is going to be a huge hit with not just regular pinball players, but a much younger crowd as well.
Again, don't think they won't be making enough of these to fill demand.
Quoted from Doctor6:Who the hell are the Munsters?
Isn't that those chocolate stuffed cookies they don't make anymore?
Quoted from Vino:Whatever gets you laid smart guy..
I was going to say if you show me your IQ, I'll show you mine.
But then you had to go and point out it's a guy.
Quoted from cait001:You haven't even completed your Adventure Card!
Done!
download (3) (resized).jpgQuoted from jeffspinballpalace:How many of those fans are prepared to drop $7k on the spot? Much like no Star Wars or Beatles fan is going to drop coin, no R&M fan will either.
You must understand, R+M fans are super intelligent. Meaning most of them have figured out how to make money without doing too much.
Quoted from Gryszzz:I'm excited just cause OD is finally excited about a theme!
I've had a boner since last night. Viagra? Pfffffttttt.....
Quoted from bangerjay:I’m playing drunk tonight
That explains your post from the other thread.
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:Gen X is vastly overlooked......and underestimated.
I try to do both whenever possible.
Quoted from Extraballz:Let me guess. A handsome GenX dude stole your women in the 90s?
Not quite. lol. I never considered myself part of one generation or another. Once you do and are content with that, as you get older it tends to stunt your growth and you start longing for things from the past instead of just remembering them and stop moving forward into the future. At least that's the way I see it.
Quoted from bangerjay:That was last week
Well I've been drunk for almost a week, so that explains that.
Quoted from bangerjay:Can I interest you in a cybertruck?
I'll get back to you in a few hours when I'm super cyberdrunk.
Quoted from Zablon:An Evil Dead pin would do way better than a KKFOS would....as would an Alien pin *cough*...
I'm still holding out for the KKFOS prequel, a Hardbodies pinball machine.
Quoted from yancy:Odin beat me to the punch... line.
Never underestimate a member of the blank generation.
Sounds like bangerjay has better things to do than watch crappy TV shows. Speaking of which, Cowboys sure are crappy tonight.
My 21 year old daughter's return phone call when asked if I should buy Rick and Morty.
"Heck Ya! Everybody I know loves that show!"
Do you think 750 will be enough of these?
"No way!"
She said there was a lot more buzz about it a couple years ago but it is still very popular.
For those that say young people can't afford these things, she is in her fourth year of college and has a job where she makes more money than I do. Not that she is going to buy it, but her and her friends do go out to places where something like this would definitely catch their attention and it would certainly get played.
Quoted from Deaconblooze:If I'm an operator, there's 0 chance I'm not putting this out on location. The show has a really strong following, and it's very relevant TODAY (rare).
If I'm an operator, I'm putting one in one of the breweries or night spots where the college kids in my town hang out. There is a rec center in the basement of the local university where I used to play that this would be perfect for.
The way I see it is we've already planted the seed by having our own games they can play. Now give them the themes they can relate to, and the rest will take care of itself.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:I have seriously been called a sonofabitch more in the last 2 days than my other 51 years combined.
Then I'm calling you a gentleman and a scholar, or an officer and a gentleman, or whatever gets me on the list for a game.
Quoted from cjchand:According to Wikipedia - yeah, I know, but work with me here - seems the audience keeps growing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rick_and_Morty_episodes#Ratings
Dunno what happened on S3E1, but the trend is definitely "up and to the right".
No doubt about that. But my point was it is not just older people that have been watching adult swim for years like myself. It has crossed over to all walks of life.
Except maybe those that have been stuck in their ways for years, but there're still plenty of other pinball machines for them.
Quoted from delt31:Replace GnR with iron maiden and then you have the old men title. Do the math
Haven't figured out which is older than I, but I believe old man Axl was born 4 days after I was.
All I can say is thank goodness I'm not old... or fat.
Quoted from TheLaw:Or anyone lately to be honest.
I haven't heard of any of deeproots games breaking down on location or in home use yet.
Quoted from pinmister:I do need to reserve my judgment until I have a chance to play it.
You'll be able to play mine next time you're in cali... with all the fixins.
Quoted from pinmister:What really makes me happy is seeing people's excitement! Yes I will be checking it out for sure!
What really make me happy is when you and yours show up at the door.
Quoted from 6S3NC3:I called yesterday afternoon, about 200 members in the club. Im sure that bumped up a bit.
I'm certainly one of them.
Kinda wondering with more distributers now, which would be the best way to go to get an early spot even if you are already a past Spooky customer.
I have decided to go straight to the source as Charlie, as busy as he must be, seems to have no problem replying to e-mails pronto. Like I said before, he's too cool for school.
Quoted from pinmister:Been craving me some El Farolito with Nimblenuts-hopefully sooner than later fo sho.
We can certainly do that.
Quoted from Sticky:Your home doesn't sound like a fun place anyone wants to go to anyway.
Quoted from KingPinGames:Spooky Pinball (WI Based)
PinballStar Amusements (PA Based)
KingPin Games (WI Based)
Nitro Amusements (WA Based)
Lock When Lit (MO Based)
I believe that is it for USA distributors.
I guess Wisconsin is about as close as any to where I live anyway.
The distributer in my town only sells new Stern, JJP, American, and CGC.
I do however go by there once a week to say hello.
Quoted from KingPinGames:Order from Spooky, they are good people.
I did the last one and it showed up in a box. The dude even carted it to my garage so I could unbox it proper.
Quoted from Sticky:You can tell who the old guys are just by going through the thread and seeing some of these posts. Guys wondering what this is or suggesting themes that nobody born after 2000 has ever heard of.
Not bagging on any of you for your age but come on, Evil Dead? Halloween? Someone mentioned Munsters?
I had to go back and quote this. And say years of age has nothing to do with it. Now I'm going to go finish knitting.
Quoted from PW79:In summary if Stern made it you won’t buy it because Stern sucks & if Spooky is making it you can’t buy it because they won’t produce enough.
Quoted from Vino:I have the flu and just had my shot of whiskey.
Better than a flu shot fo shizzle.
Quoted from razorsedge:Evidence of the themes popularity is the plethora of pinsiders now updating their avatar to RaM!
I did mine because the 90s are so yesterday.
Quoted from f3honda4me:Never saw the show until this announcement.
And this, my friend, to me is what pinball is all about.
Quoted from gliebig:I have bronchitis.
I woke up with a slight case of bongchitis myself.
Quoted from Whysnow:I am not sure why so many people are completely incapable of reading the posts and understanding what is very clear?
750 total games. That is it. No more and no less.
Let me go get my reading glasses.
Quoted from Jackontherocks:Be you hate Iron Maiden music too and like trendy alternative crap
Not that I hate it, but that shit's so outdated I can't even listen to it anymore.
Quoted from frolic:I wonder why the announcement of 750 total made?
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rick-amp-morty-pinball-from-spooky/page/6#post-5335828
"we often limit to what we feel we can do in a timely manner that is a fair wait time for the customer. Also the limit is a huge part of the draw for some people and makes it cool when you can get ahold of one!"
Quoted from Fytr:And honestly paying for a poster and the priviledge of ordering first (Fang Club) is distasteful, but I guess "Capitalism".
I had considered sending in a silly video about how much I deserved to own one, but the $45 seemed a little easier on my own self respect.
Quoted from razorsedge:It should be made clearer that this membership does NOT (apparently) secure them a copy of RaM.
I hope it at least gets me a secret decoder ring.
I love the entire presentation so far and have not been this excited about a new pinball machine since they would just drop them on location with no internet input. I'm already thinking BS might be in my future.
My only question is will the order in which somebody joined the Fang Club have anything to do with the order in which members are allowed to purchase? I'm one of those guys that can sometimes go a week without checking my e-mails although I'll be checking them more frequent now.
Quoted from KingPinGames:You can order the day of the reveal.
Will it be like how the west was won, or will there be some order ?
My daughter and I bonded tonight over pizza and the new dragon episode. Then we watched Killer Klowns From Outer Space.
Quoted from gliebig:It's amazing that some of you can even function in daily life.
It's easy if you get your daily dose of Rick and Morty.
Quoted from metallik:If someone is really curious where the number is right at this moment, it only costs $45 to find out...
With my luck I'll get # 1751.
Quoted from flynnibus:Star Wars LE...
BlackKnightSOR...
MMR (before they introduced standards..)
and the list goes on and on.
Not a one of those is a theme from the 21st century that hasn't even peaked yet, so please continue...
Quoted from flynnibus:So only 'new' hype counts when talking about hype that's never been seen before? gotcha...
For me it does.
When you use the words "Star Wars" and "new" in the same sentence, it kind of like one of those oxy morons.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:Yes... we are!
Taking a small break while we play test ... stuff and things.
I bet you guys keep it real fun around there. I'd apply if I lived close by. I could mop the floors, pick up lunch, or even assemble a game or two.
Quoted from northerndude:Anyone else scour this pic for a lucky hint? LOL
Yes. I noticed Scott looks like an even more determined mad genius than he has in the past.
Quoted from flynnibus:Didn't say the theme was new... his comment was "But what other Pin in the last 10 years checks all 3 of these boxes?". You are the one that introduced the idea of the topic had to be recent..
Well, one of the boxes to check was Rick and Morty. And none that you posted were that.
Quoted from Rondogg:J/K, everyone in this thread who wants one is going to get one.
Well then lets just hope Rick and Morty fans outside the pinball world are as poor, dumb, and slow as many in this thread seem to think they are.
Quoted from underlord:Slow down the hype train people, let’s see the flam-damned machine first!
Too late for that. It's going to be like the running of the bulls when this goes on sale.
Quoted from Fytr:That's the kind of thing you can do when you *only* produce 500 games a year...
I hear they take like 5 coffee breaks a day too.
I don't feel so bad about only doing less than 10 smog inspections some days like today. No wonder I can relate.
Quoted from cmack750:Let's just all admit we have a problem, already!
Quoted from MikeS:You can't penalize people that are waiting up to a year and a half for a game. A lot can happen in that timeframe. People get divorced, lose jobs, get married, have babies, recessions happen, etc.
Others just play pinball and get drunk and the year passes right by. I suppose a heart attack or liver failure might throw a wrench in that wait though.
This is like the 90s, when the pinball machines introduced many to the themes.
I've seen the show before, but have been waiting for someone the industry to go this route for a long time. Glad it's Spooky. I'm almost sure it wouldn't be anybody else.
Quoted from Coindork:Hell, I've still never seen The Shadow or Creature From the Black Lagoon.
I didn't even know there was a movie Shadow when I first played the game. That's what it was like. Can't say I had never heard of Star Wars or Willy Wonka when those games came out.
Quoted from docquest:You really owe it to yourself to see the original Creature From the Black Lagoon.
Yep. I've seen it so many times I've lost track. Including a couple weeks ago. It is a "smart" horror movie.
I'm assuming we will also be getting hit for that almost 10% Ca. sales tax upon purchase.
No problem. If people can afford new pinball machines, then they should pay their taxes as well.
Quoted from pinballinreno:For $750 in taxes, drive to Vegas and pick it up there maybe?
I pay so little taxes anyway, I'm not going to play this get around it game anymore.
The only game I want to play is Rick and Morty.
Quoted from bent98:What does the BS package usually include ?
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:All I've got is this. I wish them nothing but the BEST![quoted image]
So, is that your kid's prom picture or what?
I had to google Spin and Marty. lol. Just a tad before my time. Hahaha!
In my world, even Ren and Stimpy is an antique theme.
With my property tax of $1000 a year, I think I can manage it. After all, a house is just a luxury item.
Quoted from iceman44:Who’s charging you 10% sales tax?
It's a llittle less but it's called use tax, and either you pay it upon time of out of state purchase, or when you file your state tax, or when they come a knocking, whichever comes last.
Quoted from f3honda4me:Taxation is theft :p
If it will help pay to fix the street in front of my house so it doesn't throw chunks of asphalt at me while I'm mowing the lawn, I don't mind throwing in a few bucks to do that.
Quoted from Pball:Yes, Spooky has to charge CA sales tax now. I received my ACNC two weeks ago and they had to charge tax.
It is what it is. Some states have no sales tax and crazy high property taxes. My property tax is super low relatively speaking. Nobody wants to pay any taxes, but somehow they gotta pay to keep things running. And keep all those fancy suits up in Sacramento living high on the hog.
Quoted from kermit24:you know the only reason your taxes are low is because you are old and have lived in the same place forever. Grandfathered rule.
Close, but I am not old. It was my old grandma that bought the house in 1966 and keeping it in the family that keeps taxes low. She wouldn't let grandpa move in. Something about a Christmas blowout at our house where she yelled at him snd he dropped a bottle of Jack Daniels in the driveway.
Quoted from ausretrogamer:We’ve now gone to taxes. We all know the certainties in life, unfortunately taxes are one of them. Now, back to our regular Rick & Morty schedule
I just wanted to point that out. I knew when I paid sales tax on my Fang Club membership, that like death, NIB pinball tax was now inevitable.
Quoted from P1nhead:Legislatively, in the majority of states, that is what the gas tax is supposed to be for.
In our state legislatively, they use the funds to fight the people that want to fix the shit.
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:Ya no shit, mine is $9300...I pretend I’m buying a nib every time I pay it
To be fair, you probably have a real job too.
Quoted from iceman44:I’m not waiting 18 months on any pin despite the FOMO factor reaching peak levels right now!!!
So you took the refund deeproot offered? Or were you even in on that?
I guess I'm too young to worry about little shit like how many coils or did they put Rick on the right side when he should be on the left side, or even if the gap between the flippers is 1 millimeter wider than the last game.
Even with what has been revealed so far, I already love the game. Glad I'm not old and set in my ways.
I bought my Toyota and drove it away the same day. I don't wait on mass produced cars. I am however willing to wait my turn for Rick and Morty.
Quoted from Whysnow:what version did you get O?
Nimblenuts just woke my sorry ass up. I'm floundering trying to order a bloodsucker.
I hope one of those is mine.
Once the leaf blowers started up this morning, I put the pillows over my head and blocked out the world.
Quoted from P1nhead:I thought you made it under the wire?
I hope so. It's just a comedy of errors on my end. We were out playing late in the garage last night with all the football and Rick and Morty on the TV. lol.
Quoted from The_Casual:Drinking o-din, you meant drinking.
And fixing my friends brakes and oil leaks for free because he cut off the end of his finger. lol. I can be a nice guy that way. It was a big time and not a time to think about what would be happening at 7:00 AM the next morning.
Quoted from Zablon:It's almost guaranteed someone will sell their spot. You'll have opportunities if you really want it!
I'm good now. I've never felt like such a failure in all my life. lol.
Nimblepin told me somebody posted to wake me up earlier. Thanks!
Quoted from iceman44:Did you get one Spicoli or did those "tasty buds" cause you to oversleep?
I'll let you know when I actually do wake up. lol.
I'm sure nobody here really wants to know what went on last night. lol. Or my comatose conversations with nimble pin this AM. I gotta get this brake fluid off me from yesterday is all I know.
I'm in!
Around here a year goes by real fast. Before you know it they will be selling halloween decorations again.
Quoted from 6S3NC3:So I have been through a lot today. Anyone feel the same?
Not really. My day's just getting started.
Quoted from kermit24:But in order to pull this off, you need a theme that gets people excited.
I seriously doubt Rick and Morty was on any of the other companies radar. And many in charge of those companies may have never even heard of it before now.
It's also very hard for people to change or accept new things once they are set in their ways. There is still a huge market for them and their themes anyway.
Quoted from kermit24:Maybe form some of the manufactures, but definitely not all. AP themes are have not been strong.
Yeah, I wasn't really pointing out one or another, just the general way pinball as a whole has been for a while.
This game will sure freshen up that landscape.
Quoted from Goronic:Stranger Things should help Stern with that. It is a 'no brainer' theme, and actually relevant today. I am worried that they are going to botch ST - but I sure hope that they don't!!!
Good for them! It's not anything I'm really interested in, and I'm glad it is Spooky doing this one.
Charlie seems very open minded when it comes to young talent like Scott and sort of giving him a lot of his own latitude with themes and whatnot.
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:So... is Rick and Morty the biggest day 1 sell out in pinball history?
There may be other titles that sold that many units the first day, but going back in time to figure out which ones or how many is almost impossible due to the limited records available.
I'm sure T-2 did great as it was released to coincide with the movie's release. But again, it was not a limited production game.
Quoted from Thenewguy1337:I do feel bad that non Fang members never even had a chance
I imagine there might be a few Fang Club members that might have missed the announcement and maybe still don't know today was the day. I know I almost did.
Quoted from tacshose:It was PURE LUCK I saw the email from KT as I have been traveling and luckily on West coast time was able to get up at 7 to place my order before heading to meetings. I am sure most people missed this going on sale
I surely don't check my emails everyday, and definitely not at 7:00 AM on my days off. I was convinced this would be closer to Christmas.
Quoted from flecom:every year at IAAPA I harassed everyone in a Stern shirt about doing R&M, problem is they are all old and out of touch
I'm sure they are not out of touch with making money. lol. They probably could have sold more Rick and Mortys than WWE or a few other recent titles.
I'm just glad they didn't have the opportunity to cockblock the license like they did with Godzilla.
Quoted from aeonblack:It took less than 2 minutes for me to get an answer to a question directly from the designer of the game. Unreal. Thank you!
Yes, this is an alternate universe to the rest of pinside.
Quoted from Shapeshifter:Put 2nd Feb in the diary for sure.
http://nysportsjournalism.squarespace.com/pringles-rick-morty-super-bowl/?SSScrollPosition=0
My birthday? Done!
Quoted from razorsedge:Aparently having the game listed in pinside, and people owning them, is not enough...
At least in a club thread there is usually less non related back and forth bickering.
Quoted from SilverBallz:Am I the only one who ordered who’s never seen a full episode of rick and morty?
I came for the cheese pump and it looks like I'll be leaving with a Rick and Morty pinball machine.
Quoted from pinheadpierre:But we are in an era where rules and objectives can really push a game to new heights.
Yes, I am willing to learn all these fancy newfangled rulesets. Then I will destroy the competition.
Quoted from Hulkbuster:does the “Butter” also coat the sides of the backbox? That would be butterific.
I saw two butter cabinets last night, one TNA and one ACNC, and they look awesome.
I'm kinda tempted to go that route on this one.
Quoted from dnapac:It’s a complete splurge
I've been throwing all my money away since I got into this hobby anyway, so why change now?
Quoted from Coindork:My birthday was the day before this went on sale and considering this a gift to myself.
My birthday's on Super Bowl and all my teams are losers, so I may do that as well.
Quoted from toyotaboy:this isnt the deeproot thread
For sure! I was going to ask if he had bought another recent Spooky game. lol.
I'd rather wait a year or more for Rick and Morty than being left in limbo waiting for a replacement playfield for some of the other's games out there.
Quoted from iceman44:ST will ship LONG before this one does.
Quoted from guitarded:the time some of the new ST owners hear back from Stern about their damaged playfields.
Then the real wait begins.
Quoted from iceman44:Lmk how that goes in 2021 Odiner. LOL
Then tonight I'm going to party like it's 1999. Just like the century most of Stern's games represent.
Quoted from PokerJake:California would welcome you.
We don't need any more of that here.
Quoted from iceman44:I like Rick and pinball Dork and Geeky. Perfect for 750 buyers
Sorry you missed out.
Why don't you go play your latest dinosaur themed game.
Quoted from iceman44:Will do, And Elvira, And the "new age" Stranger Things".
State of the art shit there, wish I could afford it.
Quoted from iceman44:You def can. You just bought a Rick pin. Check the math Odiner.
Maybe I could, but I sure wouldn't want to look at them every day, let alone play them.
Quoted from iceman44:Wait what? You gotta look at that Rick artwork every day
In your honor, I will get drunk tonite and put on a Rick and Morty marathon.
Quoted from floyd1977:Ever ordered concert tickets?
I thought about that, but it gets kind of cold camping out in front of a building in Benton this time of year, I'd imagine.
But at least there would have been someone there to wake me up.
Quoted from Whysnow:Anyone playing pinball tonight? 36 people at the local monthly tourney tonight.
Yes, but I'm stuck at home with the usual assortment of crappy old games.
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:Californication has Texas square in its cross hairs...s
As long as we don't get Texacated, I'm good.
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:Open Loop:
Both drop targets down, with no attempt to capture a ball. This will act as a super high speed turn around from both directions.
I've been practicing for that on No Fear. Gonna give it a few loops tonight.
Quoted from Concretehardt:I am always skeptical of any boy my Daughter dates
I think I impressed my daughter's Christmas eve date by having most of Rick and Morty recorded. After everybody else left we watched a bunch. He is an Air Force MP.
Quoted from jonesjb:It’ll be fine. Worst case scenario, someone will come out with plexiglass mod cutouts that fit and level the surface.
I'm sure it will be. I'm just one of those that rests the fingers not in use right where some of those cutouts are.
Could always get an extra set of rails without the cutouts if it bothers me. I try not to let things bother me though.
With my luck the gloves would get snagged on one of those cutouts while switching to the magna save button. lol
Not trying to make a big deal out of it, but it's food for thought though.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Pretty sure it will be considered a badge of honor to have fucked up hands from playing rick and morty. It was a privilege and an honor Mr Danesi. Thank you may I have another.
“Hey, nice hands! Rick and Morty?”
“Hell Yeah Brother”
High 5
“Ouch” - “Ouch”
LOL
Well, my buddy has been playing pretty good with the fingertips he cut off recently with a circular saw, and me showing him my matching pair of sewed back on fingertips has somewhat helped ease his pain. lol.
I guess we'll just wait and see where the fingers fall once the games start to ship. No worries.
A pinball machine without a knocker when you score a replay or high score, the main goal of any pinball game as far as I'm concerned?
Might as well be playing video games. Or go back to playing them if that is where you came from.
The knocker goes back to the late 40s when it was used as a scoring sound effect, not for replays. It would rattle almost constantly in games that had them.
Then they toned it down to just indicate replays which in some games could be 10 specials at a time. Nothing like playing one of those and hearing your reward for the work you put in to get to that point. Kinda pointless otherwise.
Pop bumpers and flippers are other products from the late 40s that I am happy are still in use today.
Quoted from Mr68:I get the Bill Acceptor Coin Door for my home collection instead of the knocker.
I'll be getting both for when it eventually goes on location and pays for itself.
Yes, pinball is an investment, folks.
Just got back and saw 1000 new posts.
Was sure pinsiders were going to tell me of some revelation I couldn't figure out on my own. I mean, if they can't, who can I turn to? I feel so lost...
Quoted from Morinack:I have seen the "Bill Acceptor Ready Door" referred to by different names. Be sure you understand this door just has the cutout to mount your own Bill Acceptor. It doesn't come with the actual unit.
Cool.
I know a couple guys named Bill that insist all games should take money.
I will install a Bill acceptor to accept the Bills' Bills.
Quoted from cooked71:Addams Family is the only game I know of that uses cabinet knockers in gameplay, and that was really effective. Don’t know of any others.
I know of several from the late 1940s . It was advertised as "drumroll sound effects".
Never thought about using headphones while playing. I like it loud and proud.
If the neighbors complain, fk em. They are the ones hiring those obnoxious leafblowers.
Quoted from Zablon:How do I know you live alone for $100 Alex.
There is shit all over the kitchen counters and floor when I wake up and sometimes I am part of it.
You win the daily double.
Quoted from Zablon:Significant others can be a hassle sometimes.
I lived with the mother of my child for 7 years, so tell me about it. It taught me a couple things though. How to be much neater and cleaner, which I still am, and to never, ever do that again.
Quoted from cooked71:Headphones are perfect for an adult game like R&M.
If my neighbors can hear my buddies and me carrying on out in the garage, R+M will almost seem G rated.
Quoted from chooch:It's all about who you know. Kaneda supposedly got a number less then 86 from Pinball Star.
Quoted from Calfdemon:Always easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission!
I've found it easiest to not have to do either.
Quoted from Spelunk71:don’t VIPs always get special treatment?
Very insolent people?
Quoted from Pinstym:You must realize that he isn't going to stop.
They had some strong psychedelics back in the 60s.
Quoted from CKrueger:Please stop. We can all count. Nobody wants to see three hundred of these posts.
Says the guy that has made almost 70 less than imformative posts in this thread as opposed to his 20. lol
Quoted from CKrueger:Flame wars only work if two people participate.
Hawk's got too much class for that.
Mine will probably be going in the garage...where I spend most of my time.
Quoted from guitarded:Surfin' Donuts
Surfin' Donuts rules!
Quoted from Airball:What # did Kaneda receive?
Don't know but 86 seems appropriate.
When we were 7 or 8, we did at least as much and maybe more swearing than adults. Don't see why today should be any different.
Quoted from NevadaNutJob:Knockers NEVER go out of style
Did these?
1975-Sears-Wishbook2017-11-25-20_45_53 (resized).jpgQuoted from titanpenguin:I’d be shocked if 50 made it out on route.
Quoted from cyberslunk:You asked for proof and I was banned from the thread.
Can you show us proof you like pinball?
Quoted from screaminr:don't let Rick and Morty turn into this shit . and people thought knocker talk was stupid .
Due to pinside's new rule about no club thread until the game ships, unfortunately, it is what it is.
Quoted from pinballlife:Wait... His *crime* is pretending to have sex with a doll? That's not a crime even if he actually had sex with it.
Coming soon.... Pinballlife life-size dolls.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:just watched the ST premium stream by dead flip.
Meh..... projector is no big deal.
Definitely not better than a flooble crank!
Sounds coming from that thing are horrible.
Not quite up to what Scott and Justin are putting into this one, I'm sure.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:also is it me or does the ST theme song seem to be playing like 80% of the time?
I'm trying to be a hater on the pin but seems like that might get old.
Sure seems like they are reusing generic sound effects from other games. And not good ones.
Can't quite put my finger on it, but it's nothing I want to hear over and over again.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:Maybe I should sell one of my Stern pins and try to find a TNA to keep me busy until I get RM?
ANY TAKERS???
I sold BM66 and bought a TNA and never looked back...
Quoted from razorsedge:I think there will be more of these going onsite than one might assume.
It would be a shame for the generous public to not have access to as many as possible.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:how do you like the quality of your spooky pin?
do you only own that 1 spooky pin?
Best quality playfield in the business. The cabinet is solid as a rock. Customer service is second to none.
Only one I've owned, but my buddy has the rest of them are they are just as stout. He's got butter cabinet on his, and I'm going that route on this one.
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:Man, Stern has done a great job lowering everyone’s expectations on pinball machines..
Quoted from Coindork:If that’s for real, that totally sucks....
Ya, the guy wears sweatpants, a sweatshirt with a hoody, and sandals with socks.
Thanks for pointing that out. The butter cabs I saw looked like they have a thick layer of protection over the artwork. Didn't think about trying to test scratch one though to see how tuff it actually is.
I don't know, but my whole thinking is how special a machine this is going to be and how awesome it will look with a butter cab. I guess I also kinda assumed it would be a more resilient finish if it was to go on location.
Quoted from docquest:I will actually be in the Los Angeles area for work all next week.
You should see my livingroom.
Quoted from docquest:I'd love too are you within reasonable driving distance of the Thousand Oaks area?
That's pushing the edge of sanity there considering I am in Orange County.
Quoted from docquest:Whenever I'm out there I try to do something pinball related.
We be raging Super Bowl Sunday! And it's my birthday to boot.
The weather's going to suck though. Down to 70 from the 80 we are getting on Saturday.
Quoted from pinballkim:Happy Birthday O-din!
Thanks! I only remember it when it lands on Super Bowl anymore. I no longer care about the groundhog.
Quoted from docquest:Seems like when the Patriots aren't in it people around here forget all about it.
I'm almost as sad The Patriots didn't make it as The Chargers this year.
Sunday's always an easy drive thru LA. Most of the time...
Quoted from trilogybeer:Happy birthday O-din !
Thank you T-beer.
Quoted from ReallifePin:I never feel older
That's the spirit!
Yes, I'd probably rather see myself playing this game before some other knucklehead. Back in the day the only preview of gameplay we got was while my quarter was on the glass waiting to play and the guy usually wasn't talking.
