It's Rick AND Morty. It's not Rick & Morty or Rick + Morty. It's Rick AND Morty. The acronym clearly needs to be RAM, not R&M and certainly not R+M. Let's get that shit straight right now so future searches are improved.

Never. R&M looks/feels right. R&M for a million years Morty!!!

Quoted from 6S3NC3:

I don't understand this "kids cant afford it talk". We were all kids... and now we can afford pin's (well most of us). Kids today have more resources than when I was a kid. Also when you say "kid" what age is that? I think of not working <17 and when I was 17 there were no "kids" buying pins. If your talking about Adults in there 20ies I see these young adults driving Mercedes, BMW and Porsches buying rental properties. What makes you think they cant buy a pinball machine? There are more young adults today that could surly afford a pin then when I was growing up. This is also the main demographic (guessing) of R&M. Im 42 and love the show and my oldest daughter loves the show, all her friends love the show and her cousins love the show. Im probably going to get a R&M pin and everyone is going to want to play. Some may want one in there home and ask Dad (this may be you) to get them one. So to answer the question is 750 going to be enough? My answer is No, its not even enough for the bar owners that are going to want one. I don't even know if I should post this...Shit Rick

I'm with you that 750 isn't going to be "enough". Most young people traditionally have money by borrowing against future earnings (i.e, loans). The average debt at graduation now is about 35k, so a lot of that borrowing potential for young people with professional degrees is kind of tapped.

Overall, I think the theme of the generation is to spend less, so you can work less. There's obviously exceptions, but there are movements within the generation (particularly the younger side of the generation) that point to this… tiny homes, early retirement strategies ("FI"), etc.

I think 750 is a pretty small number given the popularity of the show, but I think most millennial (whom I agree are the primary demographic for Rick And Morty) are probably going to be playing on location rather than in their living room, and I don't see that as a problem.

1 will be enough for me.

Quoted from cait001:

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

We finally see it after 14 pages!

I'm really looking forward to see what Spooky has in store for this go-round. I've been a big fan of the show since it premiered back when I was in college. Of all the Spooky games, I've only played TNA but I loved what I saw.

Having never bought NIB before I may have to start giving it some thought... my wallet will not be happy with me.

I have seriously been called a sonofabitch more in the last 2 days than my other 51 years combined.

Apparently people are watching the hell out of season 4!

I'm in.

Then I'm calling you a gentleman and a scholar, or an officer and a gentleman, or whatever gets me on the list for a game.

Do you think Pre orders will start on Christmas? Will people in the spooky fang club be able to pre order 2 weeks before Christmas?

I think this will be my first NIB pinball machine. I love Rick and Morty!

Hope it's not a reskinned seawitch.

I watch R&M regularly, and enjoy it. I'm looking forward to this game. Hopefully there will be at least 1 on route in Minnesota.

I'm in the same boat, and have the same question about pre-orders.

Tilt would be silly to not get one. Hopefully they prove to be reliable for operators.

#916 4 years ago

I feel the same sense of urgency with making sure i get this machine as i did with BKSOR LE. For some reason I thought the BK LE would sell out fast. I was dead wrong there.

The world of boutique pinball can get confusing. While Spooky did manufacture Jetsons, it is not a Spooky game. It was designed by The Pinball Company who contracted with Spooky to manufacture their game.

Oh yeah, forgot that was a contracted game. I was kidding of course. Super excited for this game. Joined the Fang Club right after it was announced and hoping this is my first NIB pin.

Great play by Spooky, this will sell out no problem.

For me personally, was really looking forward to this since I love Danesi. But I hate the theme. I hate Rick & Morty I think it's pseudo-intellectual nonsense with characters ranging from boring to annoying.

If this were Venture Brothers, Sealab, Aqua Teen, Metalocalypse, etc, I would be over the moon ecstatic. But Rick & Morty...location play only. But again, just me personally, I know others love it and it will sell.

#922 4 years ago
Quoted from Yelobird:

In my opinion Spooky games are every bit as robust if not More then Stern games. Just my opinion.

As a Pinball Tech who works on these games, I heartily disagree. The liberal use of hot glue and plastic switch mounts, does not hold up well in a commercial environment. Even TNA, whichis a fairly simple game, mech wise, breaks far more often than the Sterns do. They make great games, play wise... But They themselves will tell you, they build home machines, not commercial routable tables.

#923 4 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

She said there was a lot more buzz about it a couple years ago but it is still very popular.
For those that say young people can't afford these things, she is in her fourth year of college and has a job where she makes more money than I do. Not that she is going to buy it, but her and her friends do go out to places where something like this would definitely catch their attention and it would certainly get played.

According to Wikipedia - yeah, I know, but work with me here - seems the audience keeps growing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rick_and_Morty_episodes#Ratings

Dunno what happened on S3E1, but the trend is definitely "up and to the right".

I like all those and would take a pin from any of them.

I have to agree with this.

Everything has to be bolted, riveted and made super robust.

Route conditions are a good indicator of engineering problems.

Games have to be routed heavily during the sample phase. This usually shakes out most bugs.

No doubt about that. But my point was it is not just older people that have been watching adult swim for years like myself. It has crossed over to all walks of life.

Except maybe those that have been stuck in their ways for years, but there're still plenty of other pinball machines for them.

Yeah Morty I can't wait to find a thousand *BURRRP* posts about the Game of Thrones battering ram when I search for RAM, jeez Morty, it's like *BURRRP* you've never heard the word "ram" before, you really are your father's son aren't you Morty?

Stern uses plastic switch mounts too.. and hot glue is used on our ribbon cables, same as commercial video games. In fact, first operator we shipped a TnA to insisted we hot glue the ribbon cables. Been doing it ever since.

Simple game mech wise? Compared to what?

Spooky rules.

#930 4 years ago
Quoted from cjchand:

Dunno what happened on S3E1, but the trend is definitely "up and to the right".

S3E1, aka The Rickshank Rickdemption, was an April Fools Joke by Adult Swim. Popularity of the show was reaching epic highs, and it had been nearly 2 years since Season 2 ended. The fans were desperate for Season 3 to begin. So they decided to air the Season 3 premier four months before the season began, unannounced with no prior promotion, for 4 straight hours. Nobody knew it was going to be on TV, hence the low ratings. Only a show like Rick & Morty would prank their dedicated fans like that. And what network would green light such an idea for their most popular show in history. Brilliant!

Compared to pretty much everything that American Pinball makes.. which is OVERLY complex. Or Simple compared to say, TwilightZone, or Theater of Magic.

I'm not trying to be insulting.. I am sharing my REAL world experience. Also, your own sales team has said exactly what I have said, about them being home machines, to at least two of my clients.

Now I have also said, I am very much looking forward to this table.

I tried searching for RAM and most hits are actually on RAM chips in tech threads.

I'm now in the R&M camp. Hopefully Pinside can fix how the "&" shows as "&" in post quotes...

If that is your point of reference, perhaps you should clarify your original post.

And take that in no way as I think we're perfect, better, or even as good... I respect the hell out of our competitions product and what they do. ALL OF THIS IS HARD. We've listened to every operator who's ever given us advice and heeded it whenever possible.

We want our games to hold up as well as anybodys... us AND our vendors are working to improve mechs, strain relief, PCs, unique parts, common parts .... even BIG things I can't talk about yet!

Huge improvements coming... but the more you throw in the games, well ... you know the story. Nothing is being held back in this one. Scott wouldn't be happy with anything but insanity! Lol.

I was completely behind you on this. The joke to me is that BKSoR Prem/LE is a fantastic game and most people haven't even seen it. Everytime someone plays mine with the upper playfield they are amazed.

#937 4 years ago
Quoted from GuiitarMan:

Also heard it was in the bank for the 24 hour tourney. As an ACNC owner I'm curious on how it held up with the constant play from top-notch players?

Yes it was. Held up well. I did forget to give it a regular reboot every few hours once and we did have the memory leak crash in on game. Only other issue was a handful of times they game spot out two balls into shooter lane due to the first one not making it out cleanly. Just went in and pulled one of them out of the shooter lane and dumped it in the drain and the game had no issues tracking the balls in that scenario.

With Justin Roiland on board, is there any chance the BS Edition will include some type of a custom call-out with the name of the purchaser being belched or quivered out, a la the Adam West call-out on Batman66?

#943 4 years ago

I'll just leave this here for anyone who thinks younger people are poor and can't afford this game.

Man, I gotta agree with the guy you all shit on with the thumbs down

I too wish Stern made this game. QC issues aside. Why? Because Spooky cant mass produce thousands of games.

So although I like what Spooky stands for, they just cant deliver like Stern. That's unfortunate.

Could be worse. Could be JJP. I dislike them. Still salty at how they handled WOZ and talked shit, tried to intimidate folks & such.

#945 4 years ago

Spooky may not be able to mass produce on large scale. That is certainly true.

But I'll accept lower production numbers in exchange for an accessible company that cares about their product & service, with hands-on involvement of the licence holder & giving this awesome theme everything it deserves. Remains to be seen of course, but I'm confident that Spooky can pull this off in a big way.

Let's not forget that Bowen Kerins is directing the rules for this project too. Scott & Bowen working together sounds like a superteam to me.

Quoted from Rarehero:

I loved R&S in 1992, but it’s absolutely irrelevant in 2019. Even more so since the truth about John K’s inappropriate young girl stalking/grooming/pedophilia was revealed. There will never be a R&S pin. Ever.

Um, say what?
