Spooky has a very honest business approach and has always kept their word. I'm not sure money, while nice, is their number one priority. No one here is saying what they can and can't do. What people here are saying is THEY (Spooky) said they will not make any more. In fact, they said if they were to decide to make more R&M machines, they would make a brand new completely different machine. They said this one is 750 and done, period. So not sure anyone here is being selfish. They just actually paid attention instead of coming in and spouting off without doing their homework.

Well I heard they are making a pin game called Rick and Morty. Can any one confirm that?

#9406 4 years ago
Quoted from Zablon:

If being shady and underhanded is your idea of 'doing business' - which we've recently seen on this very forum...remind me to never do business with you.

Note to self: when building my theme park don’t use drfrightner

Any guess when you’re getting yours ? I got a standard ( doh ! ) so over a year wait for me . Hoping to play one much sooner tho

#9410 4 years ago
Quoted from drfrightner:

YOU ARE SO SO SO SELFISH! NO ONE on this site has the RIGHT to tell ANY business what they can or can't do!

I see Spooky’s business model and your business model are different. If you are truly a great business person, you can respect their model...and take their word as what they will do. That is all that the other pinsiders are doing, taking Spooky’s word as the truth for what they will do. A trusted company that I am proud to support.

JJP is doing this with WOZ and Stern did it with Munsters Premium and batman 66 super LE just to name some examples. I'm not saying Spooky would do this and I believe them but its not difficult to see why people believe it might happen.

Spooky, not so much...

Quoted from drfrightner:

OMG we have some seriously deranged people here... pinball companies are in the manufacturing business the money making business. Let me start by saying I wasn't saying they are or they are not going to build more games. I was responding to the question if the super bowl ad helped the game. I'm saying yes it does if they're going to sell more games. If they're not planning on selling more games then the superbowl ad means nothing because they have already sold out of all the games. DUH!
How does the superbowl ad help the game if all the games are sold? The people who bought the games aren't going to benefit from the Superbowl ad because the ad doesn't promote the pinball game.
Me saying it will help if he plans on selling more games isn't a bad thing OMG. Secondly, let me say if ANYONE thinks its a bad thing if Spooky sells all 750 then, decides to sell 250 more is a bad thing you are seriously selfish. If Spooky has a major hit on their hands, which it appears they do, who are ANY OF YOU to tell them they can or can't sell more? If he has a license to sell more he's allowed to do that.
I'm in business to make money. I run my own company, and build attractions across the WORLD! If I can sell more of the same attraction I will do so because I don't owe you people anything and neither does any pinball company. Every pinball company or any manufacturing company responsibility is their employees, vendors, and their own future. If they make 750 or if they make 1000 it makes no difference other than some of you believe your game will be worth more if they don't. SO SO SELFISH if you ask me.
Spooky and all manufactures are entitled to make money to benefit their own business. End of story.
The reference to a prediction with a line with a football betting reference was a JOKE! Some of you people are so uptight you wouldn't know a joke when it slapped you in the face. You know betting line, football game, reference to the Superbowl. OMG some of you people need serious help! LAUGH OUT LOUD!
And lastly as to responding to pissing off their fan base... how could that happen? If you get your game and you LOVE IT then how do you get pissed off because they sell a few more games for the betterment of their own company. YOU ARE SO SO SO SELFISH! NO ONE on this site has the RIGHT to tell ANY business what they can or can't do!

This is for ACNC, btw.

Since we are a little ways from the owner's thread opening and not much is going on in this thread (besides some Groundhog Day "build more than 750, I know business" stuff) I thought I'd float an idea.

RANDM for the official acronym.

I may be the only one that likes it but given how much Spooky likes their double-meanings I thought it may be a good fit. If not, no harm done.

I believe this has already been debated and put to death....

RANDoM is actually pretty funny and fits the theme of the show and Spooky's sense of humor. Well proposed... but yes, I think it was voted/decided many many pages ago.

However, Scott has say on when the club opens, so maybe he has say in the abbreviation too.

Yeah i know... Just thought i would throw it here for anyone who no longer keeps up with the ACNC thread but has the game....

I know you know, but when you posted it here you didn't give it any context. Just "here's an update to download". No game attached to it in your original post. I was trying to help.

Something I've been curious about, but not sure it has been mentioned.

Was it Adult Swim or the creators of Rick and Morty that approched Spooky in regards to making this game, or was it Spooky, specifically Scott or Charlie that brainstormed this and went to acquire the license?

Quoted from o-din:

In the Buffalo Pinball Podcast, Scott mentions that Charlie asked about whether Scott had a new machine for him and alluded to Rick and Morty being a possible Theme for one.

I assume that Adult Swim and Spooky had been talking prior to that?

#9434 4 years ago

I'm going to believe it was probably Scott's genius idea to begin with, but don't know for sure.

Believe whatever you want.

I will believe what Scott said.

I didn't hear the conversation, so I don't really know. That is why I asked.

Check it out. Scott was a great guest and the Buffalo Pinball Podcast is pretty much always worth the time.

In the meantime, I heard you like cheeseballs over here.
I have a good cheeseball story and its pinball related.

My best friend had a website called Kaasbal (dutch word for cheeseball )
Website had mostly cheesy stuff and some random David Hasselhoff pics.
Just for fun I made a logo for him and printed some stickers.

Around that time I rediscovered pinball in a coffeeshop. They had a rfm and swe1, I had a blast on rfm.
My friend put one of the stickers on the side of the machine. (blasphemy, I know)
Unfortunately some time later the machines go away due poor maintenance from the distro and no more pins came back
I wanted my own pin!

Years later I see a rfm for sale for a good price and decide to take a look.
I have a talk with the owner and ask if there are any issues or things I should know.
Owner:The game is in great condition, just cleaned it, new rubbers etc.
Only thing, there is a sticker on the side that I could not get off easy. I thought it was funny so I left it there.

There it was! The Kaasbal (cheesebal) sticker I made all those years ago!
I laughed my ass off, It felt like it was destiny
My buddy had the same sticker on his wallet, so we showed the owner.
His mind was blown aswell. We had a good laugh and I ended up buying his swe1 to.
Later I learned both came from that coffeeshop.

So yeah, Thats my cheeseball story.
I got the pins that got me hooked on pinball by pure luck

So my wife goes to Starbucks most mornings for coffee and is pretty friendly with the girl that normally works the counter in the morning.
She knows that my wife and I collect pinball machines and has casually mentioned that she wants to come over sometime and check them out.

Anyhow, this morning my wife went in wearing a Spooky hoodie and the girl was asking what Spooky was.
My wife explained something to the effect that they were a boutique pinball company that makes smaller runs of really good games like Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper.
She then mentioned that they are making Rick and Morty and we were getting one.
My wife said the whole store went silent when she mentioned Rick and Morty and everyone turned to look at her, LOL.
Needless to say the girl at the counter said she's coming over when we get it.
I found this pretty amusing and thought I would share.
