dnapac , love your avatar by the way. Cracked me up when I saw it show up in the ACNC club thread!

Surfin' Donuts rules!

Plan a trip to Pinball at the Zoo and visit Sweetwater's. 2000+ miles for a great pinball show, people, and donuts!

Lol.... soon! The guy who does that is on a 50th birthday trip and I don't want to see his phone blow up for a few days.

The one he was showing me last Saturday?
It’s a nice

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

So here's one row on the production floor... of 5 different game assembly rows, all in various stages. Here's also what it starts to look like when the office corner of the shop gets buried in 750 Fang Club membership kits! I swear the wife, daughter, and Sally the dog are in there somewhere.
That help clear up any deep overly analyzed mysteries of how we do all this? [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Where’s the Dude with the cut off sleeve shirt and ink?

Quoted from Dr-pin:

What is your view on uv-Light making plastics age alot faster?

I'd thought of that briefly but am not too concerned. My intent is to use the UV effect as a reward / incentive for entering a timed mode in the game which is no longer than 99 seconds. So, UV exposure should be just a tiny fraction of overall game time. The UV light I used for effect testing is fairly intense and directed, but even if I have to stay with that, the sum of overall exposure might still be less than for games in rooms with constant ambient or party UV lights (for blacklight carpet, etc), and I haven't heard of too many ill effects from those.

But either way this is uncharted territory so I guess we'll find out If worst case turns them brittle (which I don't think would happen very soon) I suppose I'll have to make new ones for the art. The other plastic parts are commonly available.

I'm not sure why this quote was down-voted? It is an excellent example of how Spooky is keeping the American Dream alive. Greed is not good and Charlie gets that. He makes decisions for the company with his family, company, and employees first.

We, as customers, benefit from this business model because it is what will keep Spooky alive if tough times ever come. Scaling back production to 500 from 750 is a lot easier to manage than from 2500 to 500. Who is to say the next license or original theme will be as popular as Rick and Morty?

I admire the business model and cannot wait to get my first NIB pinball machine.

Edit: missing quote of a quote...

Hawk quoted: "We consistently build 10 games a week at this point. We very rarely ever miss that mark anymore. We have done 500 a year the last 2 years. We dont plan on breaking that system for now. We have to be very careful as a small company. All of our guys are full time and they count on that paycheck to feed their families. If we get to the point where sales consistently demand we could expand easily. However you just never know how that next title is going to go over and how the market is going to be the next year. We never want to have a day at spooky pinball where we have to walk people to the door because we dont have work for them. It's just not what any of us are about. There are more important things than big numbers."

I always take down votes with a grain of salt and figure whoever did it perhaps has other issues at hand.

I swear, we have the beefiest sound system in pinball. We do NOT cheap out of tin'y sounding little speakers. I kinda like rockin' audio a lot.

RZ is the only music pin I own that didn't need an audio upgrade.

The sound system (and sound of) TNA is absolutely phenomenal!. We all Love it here! ... Second to None!

It's also going to make Rick and Morty Pinball sound Awesome!!

It is all so Exciting!!!

If anyone on this list receives their game in January 2020, would you kindly email me right away with your email date stamp in January and with some game pics attached? This idea is probably the best chance I'll have of knowing when to date the game so I can timely add it to the IPDB. Seems the last few years, the manufacturer does not return my emails and if I keep contacting them, who knows, I might annoy them. I'm sure they're busy. Or, if you email a copy of your dated shipping delivery notice plus pics, that could work instead of a timely date stamp, I suppose.

Thank you,

Jay

I was curious why someone would down-vote Charlie's explanation of his production model (even if quoted by someone else).

Apparently when you attempt to quote a post without original text that was nothing more than a quote of someone else's post it will not include the post. I was attempting to follow the rules of attribution (and make it easy to follow because no quote or attribution was there, then people would be asking what post my reply was in reference to).

Downvotes are about the post, not the quote. The posters comments are no longer there.

Gotchya - I didn't see any text with his quote, so I guess that's why.

Looking at the play field photos,I see that on the approach to the right ramp, there is a stand up length of naked steel on the left side of the ramp!! there is no rubber on it! When you go for the right ramp, hitting bare metal doesn't seem right!!Can any body comment on that????

I believe you are looking at the flooblecrank. Once hit it actually moves a captive ball behind it and counts for points and might be the way you charge the magna-save battery. Someone correct me here.

Oh, it’s so much more than right! That’s the Flooble Crank, which is essentially a sort of captive ball. When you hit the metal post it transfers the kinetic energy to a captive ball behind it, charging the Magna save, I believe it can also qualify locks. It just goes to show how Spooky is adding toys to this pin that make clever use for space and impact gameplay.

I had concerns about it by the looks of it, as well. Having ordered a standard game, if any tweaks are needed for longevity, they should be in place by the time my game is produced.

Looks pretty reasonable. I noticed the art does not go all the way up around it.

It is made out of thick 304 stainless steel infused with megaseed oil and countersunk into the playfield so it goes nowhere near the clearcoat.

Maybe there will be Cliffy's avail just in case.

Edit: Looks like it shouldn't be a problem. So excited for this pin!

does it go all the way through the playfield/ nutted on the bottom?

in other words, if it takes a beating over time, would it be simple to replace?

It does go all the way through and is nutted on both sides. It is a custom machined piece with threads on both parts that protrude through the bottom of the playfield. But in all honesty, the pinball will be destroyed before this post gets beat up.

Cool. I was worried that I may bust my nutted part, especially with it being coated in megaseed oil.

Sounds like that would lead to jackpots all over the place.

MULTIPLE JACKPOTS!

You'll never need to lubricate any part of the machine again, but should keep plenty of shop towels handy.

Also I heard a rumor that the game comes with a death Chrystal that you can tape to your head as to avoid ever making a damaging shot.

Glad there's a lot of nutting going on with the flooble crank. I'd be concerned if there wasn't

Hopefully it won't be chewing through balls, and hopefully replacements will be available through your favorite pinball parts supplier in case it needs to be replaced in the future.

Can't do a lot of nutting with chewed balls....wait are we talking about the same thing?

#7449 4 years ago

I don't have any other games with magnets. Does this require different balls, and will they get magnetized over time and the captive ball stick to the flooble crank? (probably over thinking this).

#7450 4 years ago

Is it normal for manufacturers to tweak their game once it is in production? I thought parts and games were supposed to be play tested extensively before being manufactured. Fixing software bugs and making code improvements are expected adjustments after the fact, but mods to physical hardware and alignment issues seem better to get right the first time.
