Quoted from davisjl1979:With cloud systems it actually is that easy . You don’t even have to manage servers anymore if you don’t want to.
Well someone still has to manage the VMs or managed databases It's just easier to outsource the management and no one needs to worry about hardware capacity planning.
My guess is Spooky just never thought the site would be hit that bad. Even with all the hype here ahead of time I don't know if I would've believed the rush of orders was coming. If the site took every order as fast as possible they probably would've sold 3/4 of the run in 10 minutes which is nuts.

This is absolutely correct.
Quoted from j_m_:peace among worlds?
You got it! Keep it cool and just be glad that:
1 - We have a F*cking R&M machine (seriously, HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?)
2 - You're in on one
3 - You've got one of the best teams/companies in pinball building it
There are people that aren't in on one and would be happy to have the last spot in line. I count my blessing when I get them.
Quoted from kermit24:This is absolutely correct.
Enh this is making a lot of assumptions. The slowdown I experienced in checking out was not on Spooky's side but in their cart and checkout which are hosted by 3DCart. Some quick googling, because I'm putting off work, doesn't give any indication that they support autoscaling. Even if they did autoscaling doesn't happen instantaneously and generally works best with a slow ramp up of traffic. Maybe they could have alerted 3DCart ahead of time that they'd need more resources. I dunno, but saying it's an easy fix when we don't know the particulars of the application architecture or the SaaS providers capabilities isn't fair.
Even using 3d cart, the game sold out in four hours. From Spooky’s perspective that looks acceptable. Everybody using the cart system experienced delays but if the system had worked faster, then everybody would have concluded their purchase in less time and game numbers would have been assigned faster. Most people (85-90%?) would probably have ended up receiving their same number.
Quoted from Rarehero:Won’t need them, Spooky does their own “Mantis style” protectors in the scoop which keeps scoops from wearing/chipping.
I was thinking for the hole in the house

I am so flipping excited!
Quoted from Whysnow:I am so flipping excited!
I haven't been this excited for a game since TNA!
Quoted from Spiderpin:All your post say the same thing!
And he's plagiarizing my signature comment!
Funny that people complain about what number they got but they are not complaining that they were lucky enough to even get one.
I'm thankful for a couple of things: First, that I'm getting one of these games. Second, that the game made me take a second look at the show. It's hilarious and I didn't get it by just watching the pilot.
I really hope the slut dragons make it in That wizard yelling "slut" over and over had me in tears.
Quoted from Aniraf:Pretty sure a lot of hand holding and “good old boys” clubs resulted in kind of everyone on the inside being a distributor.
I respect that Spooky and the distributors around this title kept their original backers close, I just wish I would have been in the loop .
Frankly, I am kind of wondering What would have happened if Spooky had said the 750 highest bids get a machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if some would have sold for over 10k.
Hell, I would drop at least another grand to cut the line right now. I would be even cooler if spookycharlie said “fly out here and help manufacture 5 games and your game will jump 20 in line.” (Or whatever math works out) I can build a few of these bastards on my own dime just to speed this along for everyone.
Add butter to your options....should move you up in the line.
Quoted from JustEverett:Add butter to your options....should move you up in the line.
That’s no longer a thing like previous games. Butter doesn’t bump it up.
Quoted from kermit24:That’s no longer a thing like previous games. Butter doesn’t bump it up.
I can depending on who else orders butter. I added butter to my ACNC and it definitely bumped me up.

I second this. I actually bought the show for a second watch through, just finished season 1, and have been enjoying it immensely. Eventually I'll get up to season 4. From what I remember, season 1 was the worst season, and so far it's hilarious so it's only gets better from here.
Quoted from JustEverett:I can depending on who else orders butter. I added butter to my ACNC and it definitely bumped me up.
I believe butters are in house now, so it won’t change your spot much. I do love my ACNC butter!

Me too, but I don't think I'll add it to RM. Mostly because I think I may eventually route RM, and I don't want to worry about damaging a $1K paint job lol
Quoted from estrader:Hilarious but the fact remains that a company promised if you purchased one of their games you would be able to purchase future games before new customers....this didnt happen. I relied on this company to live up to their promise to perform as I pay for my games in full and hold up my end of the deal. Call it what you want its your opinion but I hope you dont find yourself in this situation one day.
If you dont want to read my comments simply skip over them.
Spooky addressed this a while back. I think it might have been in the Spooky podcast? As I remember it, their position was that if they continued the "prior customers get first dibs", all tables would sell out to the same customers, forever. They aren't interested in becoming a gigantic production line like Stern, so they simply won't have the capacity to produce a table for every one of their previous customers without also limiting their tables to previous customers.
The Fang Club was the solution to this conundrum. I understand your point, and if you want more information on why they chose this solution, I encourage you to go check Spooky's Fang Club podcast episode and read up on Charlie and Luke's posts for more detail.
Quoted from JustEverett:I can depending on who else orders butter. I added butter to my ACNC and it definitely bumped me up.
If butter cabs bumped you up in line then 700ish people would order a butter cabinet. I know I would gladly pay $1000 to get my R&M this February/March versus end of July. I don't mind paying an impatient tax.
Quoted from dnapac:I believe butters are in house now, so it won’t change your spot much. I do love my ACNC butter!
Also more to the point, there are 750 units to make with only 10 or so on the line at a time. So I think it makes sense that they will done in batches as they were in the past. But I have heard they moved the butter cabinet production in house, so that could change things too. I still think it makes the most sense that they would do butter cabs in batches.

I'm in on butter cab. Everything else I can add later if I want. 1k is an expensive upgrade but having owned a TNA butter cab, the value is there for me.
After checking back on the ACNC thread, I received my game (#286) about the same time as the standards in the 170-180 range. So it did move me (and a few others I know of in that range of builds) up in the production process. That said, it doesn't mean it will work out the same with RM. There are so many variables, it's impossible to say.

Spooky has come out and said that butter won't move you up like it did on TNA and ACNC. I am sure someone here has the quote.

This is true. It keeps getting better and better. Season 4 is tremendous!
Quoted from yancy:Had to bust out my old shirt in honor of this thread.

Wrinkles & all.
It would seem to me that the cause and effect of butter cabinets could work both ways. It could advance or delay.
I'll leave to Spooky to answer the question and trust they have a fair solution.

10K doesn't seem like much of a price bump given the initial cost of a BSE (before any add-ons). I'm thinking you need a new shirt stating something like 15K?
Quoted from yancy:old shirt
I would rather see T-shirts than place-in-line numbers, FFS...
T-Shirts of... anything in fact.
Other than T-shirts with your place-in-line number on it. SMH

At this point in pinball when new games are being released at over 10k, I think we are overdue to increase the meme to 20k.
Quoted from SpookyLuke:Butter cabinets will now be kept in house and built in normal order. No more butter cabinet batches.
Guess I missed this one.
Quoted from schwarz:This shirt has Ted written all over it.[quoted image]
Is that shirt for real? I need me one of those!
Quoted from mof:I would rather see T-shirts than place-in-line numbers, FFS...
T-Shirts of... anything in fact.
Quoted from jonesjb:Still hoping for a gameplay video before year end. I know wishful thinking but hey
What incentive do they have to offer up a gameplay video? Today or ever?
You guys bought all the games in 5 hours.

Batman '66 ruined the meme single-handedly.
