Excellent news. Glad you like it and are enjoying the added features
Quoted from ToucanF16:Does anyone have pictures of the installed mod with a clear dome?
I can add some pics of the clear domes in use once I've got everything shipped out
Update:
All pre-orders are shipped Mission achieved Its time for me have a few nice ales tonight.
Please check your emails for the tracking numbers for shipping etc. I hope everyone enjoys setting up their new saucers and enjoys the additional features over the christmas holidays. I will be setting up a section on my website in the new year for you all to register your mod and to submit ideas for new patterns/features on future software updates.
Also please post back on here when you receive your kit and how you like it. Whether you like the clear or green flasher domes best etc. I will be taking orders for more kits in the new year.
Happy Christmas to All!
Quoted from Mudflaps:I'm paid in full but didn't receive a shipping notice. Can you check?
Quoted from j_m_:no shipping info email for me I have just sent you a [real] email with all of the details
I have sent the tracking numbers to you directly in case the paypal info didn't come through, or is delayed for some reason.
I got mine today (actually the USPS apparently tried to deliver it Monday, but did not leave a notice so I did not realize it until today when I checked the tracking number). This mod is very well engineered and professionally made. The instructions are clear and it is very easy to install (10 minutes). The only hitch I had was the screw that was proved was 1 size too small (it was a #6 and the screw I removed from my lamp board was a #8). I had a screw that worked in my parts bin, so no worries.
The mod looks very nice when the machine is on. I ordered the clear domes just in case, although I thought I wanted to use the green domes. I like the clear domes with the green bulbs (also included with the clear dome option) better, so that is what I left in the machine. Once I get a few other projects behind me, I may experiment with some acrylic "pins" to push through the holes in the saucers and sit on top of the RGB light sources to try and bring the light up to the surface of the saucer a little better. All and all, this is one of the nicest mods I have ever bought for a pinball machine.

Thanks for the great comments, it's nice to hear
Quoted from Tmezel:Can you post pics of the the clear saucers?
I'll be taking a quick video showing the clear dome in use soon. All preorders ended up taking both dome colours to so it'll be interesting to hear which is favoured

I've got the clear domes on but i did some experimenting with the globe, changed to a green led which was a bit brighter, then tried some other colours. Purple created an interesting effect, yellow was a bit too weak, blue didn't quite fit in with the overall theme and have settled on red for the time being. As yet i haven't tried it with the green dome.

There is also the option of no bulb inside the dome and just having the clear dome illuminated by the saucer leds and colour patterns
I recommend the green domes. The clear domes diffuse the light too much and make weird patterns. The green looks cool.
Just to re-iterate my comments from above, post your pics of your mod in your game once its installed and how you like it. I hope everyone has a Great Christmas and i'm really pleased with all the great comments so far. It's made all the effort worth while. I'm off to spend time with family and friends now, but will be back online in the new year. Happy Christmas all.
Just installed my kit today and I must say it is very impressive. The kit is very professional done, however I have two criticism(s) for you to improve your already awesome product.
1. The provided screw is the incorrect size. It has been mentioned in a previous post that the factory screw is a #8, but the supplied screw is a #6.
2. Consider increasing the spacer posts by a mil or two. The board circuit side rides against the gi bulb clip. Maybe add two more spacer posts on the opposite side to help prevent this.
I will be added a #8 screw that is longer to avoid the bulb holder contact.
Is the code open source? Can the hobbyist make code mods?
It looks great!
image.jpgHope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. I'm back online now and hope everyone has received their kits and are enjoying extra rfm features I am taking orders for the next batch so if anyone would like to get in on the next run, please let me know.
To answer the code question:
Quoted from arpman:Is the code open source? Can the hobbyist make code mods?

I will be setting up an area on the website for owners of the kit to submit ideas for new patterns, uses for the dip switches etc and download future code updates. The code itself is not being currently shared as 'open source' though.
Quoted from eXidy:I got the shipping notice but havent received my mod yet.
Hope to get it soon!
Tracking information says a delivery attempt for your parcel was made on the 19th December around 5pm
If anyone else is still waiting for their mods, then the tracking details were included on the paypal shipping notification. If you can't find that then email me and i'll forward them to you again.
Go to https://www3.royalmail.com/track-your-item and type in your tracking number to get the latest delivery info.
Quoted from applejuice:If anyone is interested in taking their RFM with the mod installed to any shows this year, then please get in touch. I'd like to expand the promotion of the kit and let others see what its like. You can't beat a first hand look at something
I am taking my RFM with your mod to the Texas Pinball Festival in March.

Excellent
I added acrylic "pins" to the saucer holes to try and bring the light up to the surface of the saucers better. I used a 1/8" acrylic rod cut into approximately 1/4" pieces that I pushed down in the holes in the saucer to rest on top of the RGB LEDs. I took some video (I hope one of the links below works), but it really does not show the difference it makes as well as seeing it in person.

Looks good. I think the top link works. I personally like the stock look, but this is what i like about having optional extras, people can choose what to have. I can look to include an 1/8" clear acrylic rod as an optional extra for the next batch of kits, just like i did with the clear flasher domes. That way, anyone can choose what they want.

I like it. I think I'd bevel the tops of the pins at 45 degrees so they disperse the the light outward.

this is exactly what I was asking applejuice about. great job! (I was going to design something 3D printed to hold the rods, but it appears that would have been overkill.
I've ordered 5 1' length pieces off of ebay, but will only need 6" (at best) for myself. depending on how easily it is to cut and polish I may offer up the remaining stock pre-cut, polished and ready to install if applejuice doesn't have any issues with that
Quoted from mattosborn:I like it. I think I'd bevel the tops of the pins at 45 degrees so they disperse the the light outward.
I may give that a try. However, the acrylic rods I used are somewhat brittle, so they seemed to more break than cut, so I am not sure if I can accurately cut a 45 degree angle on them.
I was originally thinking I would cut them a little longer and sand the top into a dome shape to kind of look like a LED lamp. I figured the sanded surface would essentially be a "frosted" surface providing a light diffuser. However, when I cut some to get the length figured out, I liked how they looked well enough I didn't bother with sanding etc.

I'd cut/grind them down with a Dremel cut wheel. That'll leave the frosted surface you want too, although you still might want to finish them up with fine sandpaper.
Here is what I thought I think this Mod needs most...
A bottom side to the saucer machined out of aluminum, and a true dome for a canopy instead of a "square" flasher lens. Right now I'm showing a few shots of both a green and a purple LED inside a clear dome below with a bright green transparent dome on the top. The flasher dome is still used but spaced just above the top edge of the saucer and still mounts the same on the machine. They both show a great combination of different colors when the pcb's LED's are cycling through their colors. I'll be offering this mod in the near future when I figure out the cost involved. The hole in the saucer's body has to be opened up a few thousands of an inch to accept the green dome's diameter for a good fit and the original flasher's plastic gets trimmed down also. A bit of work for a major improvement in the looks of the machine. Plus the machine work for the two aluminum bottom halves. This would have to be more like a service performed than just an over the counter sale due to the fitment of the parts. I'm also wanting to try some different LED's like maybe blinks or color changers. I'll post more shots later... PM me for any other questions. Dave in AZ.RFM 032-449.JPG

I don't have a problem with owners offering their own extra things to add on to my kit. I am happy to add a length of 1/8" acrylic clear rod as an optional extra to future order to if i am able to source it here in the UK. I would like to ask you to promote my kit to other RFM fans and owners though. I am taking orders for batch 2, which will be 25 again.

Nice add-on Have you thought about creating a new aluminium top saucer to replace the licenced plastic one? My saucer pcb board has 4 cutouts that fit into the plastic lugs so that the leds always align to the holes. A new aluminium one would be great.
Yes,it's a possibility. I have your kit and was going to attempt that but getting the pcb back out of the saucer once it's snapped in place appeared to be a little risky. Didn't want to break the lugs that hold it in place. But an all aluminum saucer with a "brushed" finish would look awesome and more expensive to machine out. To see an example of one,go to You Tube and type in my name (Dave Imbody) and look at the saucer mod I was making for the Twilight Zone.

Yes, once the boards are located into the plastic saucers its best not to remove them , as they are a snug fit (on purpose). The saucer plastics are licenced parts and hence are rather expensive to supply/replace. If you want to attempt a full aluminium case, then i can probably supply you with another set of saucer pcb boards to use. That way you don't damage your own kit.
Modman, please work up a complete aluminum saucer. I'd be in for a set.
Applejuice, will you sell the saucer PCB boards separately? (I already have your kit)

Sure, that is no problem. I could also offer additional sets of saucer boards as an optional extra for future orders to.
Quoted from ToucanF16:Great picture!
Yeah, i was really chuffed with it. Really captures the game and the added saucers effects I shall be using it more in promo stuff. That leads me onto something else. If you own the kit and fancy taking some cool pics of the mod running in your game and are happy for me to use in the future, then please have a go and share them on here. I'd love to see more pics
Quoted from eXidy:Installed mine fairly quickly, 5 minutes tops? ... looks amazing!
Excellent. Nice pic to. Glad you like the added effects and found it easy to install
Quoted from yzfguy:Is this currently available? Price? Thanks
Hi, Yes i'm taking pre-orders for batch 2 currently. Similar to the way i did the batch 1 set. The cost for this run is the same as before, which in total is £100 plus postage to you country. Shipping is sent tracked and insured. There is also an optional 'clear dome' add-on to change the included green domes for an additional £5, which proved popular on the first run.
To secure a slot in the preorder queue for batch 2, drop me a message and i will send you an invoice for the first 50% (£50). The remainder is due with shipping and any extras once ready to ship.
Thanks.
Just a quick update on the website side of things. I am working on getting the new registration page up and running for current owners, along with the future features comment form. As a recap this section will also be the place to download future software updates for the product.
Thanks.
Also, please continue to upload your installation and in game pics, or videos
