I ended up buying a used video card for $5.00, and fixed it.

CONGRATS!

The culprit...

I have no idea how old the card is. The machine had the lines when I got it, over a year ago. It lasted a long time.

The funny thing is, that failing ATI card was probably worth a couple hundred when new back in the day.

Wow, you have one of the original non-powdercoated cases. I probably built that one =)

It still looks new!!! How old do you think it is?

What's the "B"? I figure L = left, R = right. B = both? When do I do it, during a game, after the last ball, before I launch the first ball? Come on man, don't leave me hanging.....

If anyone is interested, here is the CGA>VGA card I got on ebay. You'll need a NOR gate as well, which you can get for a buck or two. Everything else is just wires, solder, and some metal brackets at home depot and you have everything you need to switch out the CRT with a VGA for around $40

If you want specifics send me a PM and I'll write up something more detailed. The ebay link has the information on configuring the NOR gate but I know pictures help and I'll take them if anyone wants them.

Glad you got it all worked out! Thanks for the thread and pictures! This is a prime example of a good tech thread.

Congrats on getting it working correctly and looking good!

B is both. It's two separate codes. Enter them while in attract mode.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, and report my findings!

Is that black level issue as visible in person as it is in the picture? You can clearly see the black areas of the image reflected on the playfield glass. It's especially obvious in the square corners.

same with Ryan...I have lost Blue on my monitor...one tech came out and said I needed a new one. Having another tech look at it today and if it can't be fixed, I am doing the same as Ryan.
I have contacted Lockwhenlit and will be getting the plug and play and an LCD. I am game to do the swap, just not too excited about getting the voltage out of the tube before removing...

You can have your tube rejuvinated. simple 10 minute process as long as your tech actually has a good set of tools

We have a winner (multiple winners actually, but EA put money on it)!!! It was the video card. There is a Computer Renaissance just a couple stores down. I brought the whole Nucore setup down there. He put a test video card in it, and it worked without a Flaw. I ended up buying a used video card for $5.00, and fixed it. The next post will be before pics, and the post after that will be after pics.

Thanks for posting how the problem was solved should help a pinhead out in the future.

I wish every tech thread would post how they fixed it. Then I wouldn't have to ask the question that's been asked 50+ times before.
