There's a guy who sells a Revenge From Mars in my area.
I'll go see it in two days.
Could you tell me what to look at in particular, please?
Quoted from ForceFlow:
The main thing is probably that it boots and plays.
Then, that the playfield glass is in good shape (it's expensive to replace), the apron is in good shape (hard to find), the ramp flap in good shape (currently unavailable) and works, and that the plastic that the ball impacts after launching from the ramp in the middle of the playfield is in good shape.
After that, it's just typical pin stuff for the most part.
I'm making a list of all that for Thursday.
If I may, what is this ramp "flap"??
Thanks a bunch !
Really helpful !
I'll let you know if I'm part of the club !
Ok, so the guy sent me pictures of the machine he's selling.
The quality's really poor, but anything that strikes you straight away?
I mean apart from the worn hole which is pretty obvious...
Quoted from Mancave:
That's fairly common for this machine to be worn/broken around the stroke of luck hole. A Cliffy protector "should" cover most of that damage'
Quoted from MustangPaul:
But without fixing it and making it flat again the Cliffy will cave in and the edges will start to curl up.
That's what I thought.
Fixing and then Cliffy.
Quoted from RCA1:
You can also install a Mantis protector, which goes in from underneath and protects the inside edges. The Mantis is heavier metal and will not deform. It is possible to install both the Mantis and Cliffy protectors. I have both on mine.
I had no idea this thing existed, and I had never heard of Mantis !
Thanks for that !
Definitely gonna get this (and others for other pins !)
I have issues with optos : the one in the Stroke of Luck, and the one right behind it, in the ejector.
I usually use my phone camera to check if there's actually a beam, but I can't see anything on this pin (even on those who seem to be working).
Is there anything special with them optos??
Ok. So, one was down. Changed it, and now it's working.
But the thing is :
the opto for the Right Popper is recognized in the Switches Test (strangely, in the chart BUT not on the playfield plan (?) )
but during the game, when a ball is on it, it just doesn't recognize anything and doesn't launch the ball.
Also, when closing the door, the coil keeps knocking, as if there was a ball it wants to eject...
Alright. I'm stuck, and it's killing me.
Could someone give me a glimpse of that Switch Test for a machine that works fine, pretty pleaaaaase ?!
Quoted from Don44:
I got one of the high scores in the top five a few days ago and Martian champion. It showed my name in the top five for a couple of days. Today when I went to play a game I was no longer in the high scores or Martian champion. Any ideas why it only saved my score for a few days?
I'd try updating to 1.6 if I were you. It couldn't do no harm, and probably the opposite.
But I'm no expert at all...
Quoted from Midway-Man:
Hi guys! I just joined the club. I got this (yet) ugly beauty for just 1000€ wich is nice. There are major things to do including fixing the monitor.
Some previous idiot, made it impossible to loosen those 4 head screws. They are maybe glued or what ever he did...
Anyway nice to be finally here. When I was around 6-7 my brother had an RFM. This was my first game I ever played on as a kid. Now I am 20 and finally pulled the trigger on RFM so many memories...
Also nice to see someone continuing the code. 1.91 compared to the official 1.6.
Have fun !
