Greetings Pinheads,

I'm VERY new to working on pins. I recently got a nice looking Jurassic Park that was dead. It came with no original power supply and the and and a molex, what I think was GI power, that was burnt. two of the wires from the molex had male quick connects on them that were probably used for some jerry rigging. 11903795_10153536447016211_772641087037134841_n.jpg11903795_10153536447016211_772641087037134841_n.jpg

I replaced the Molex and put the wires with quick connects into their proper connection. I also ordered and installed a new Rottendog Powersupply.

Hooked everything up. Getting Gi lights and garbage on the DMD. No voltage indicators on the main board. I metered the +5VDC from the PS board test points and its at 7VDC! Also metered the 5+V TP on the main board and getting about the same reading or close to it.

I'm assuming thats too high but not sure if its adjustable? Any suggestions are appreciated.

That is too high, but it sounds like it just has no load, since the power supply is new. Although with a regulator in place, it should read +5v.

When it is active, it'll drop down to about 4.8vDC, so there may be an issue with the MPU or that PSU.

The 3x4 molex connector you hold brings in 10.5 VAC (at F1 and F2) and then gets converted to +12VDC through the bridge rectifier and then breaks off into a voltage regulator to make the +5VDC.

What are you using for a test board? Part number of this board?
Can you post a new picture of the power supply connected up?

Did already remove the wires with the quick disconnects? Just wondering this was on the same 3x4 connector?

7 volts?! I have never seen any power supply put out voltage that high when not under some type of normal load. In your case you're running the DMD panel (at least) so I'm doubtful it's because of load regulation. I know you don't want to hear this, but based on my experience and the experiences of others Rottendog Data East power supplies are bad news.

Also, I'm wondering if this is a reimport machine (220V) not yet converted to (120V).

No. Not adjustable.
