I saw some of these for the first time not too long ago on a BoP and they looked amazing. Hopefully they are available for dozens and dozens of games soon.

I ordered a CFTBL and IJ playfields, and IJ Rad Cals from Mirco on a Saturday night. They arrived Thursday in excellent packaging (super thick cardboard). This came from Germany to Wisconsin in 4 business days! Just awesome.
Already installed the CFTBL playfield (went great). Currently installing the IJ decals. Playfield next. Highly recommend. Need Monster Bash Rad Cals
Recently saw the YouTube video on installing these on a Taxi. They mention painting the original cabniet to prevent bleed though of the original artwork. I thought this wasn't needed with these kind of decals. Anyone have this happen?
The Indiana Jones Rad Cals look so amazing! Hoping for Getaway Babee! The reds on Getaway are almost always faded.

Well, I think the thing with the Taxi Radcals is that they're a very light color. Being yellow, they're much more likely to have bleedthrough, than say a dark blue. I'm sure there'd little possibility of bleed through with a darker cabinet color.

Can anyone confirm that this has or hasn't happened ?

I could see original decal under my
IJ radcals. For sure.

I was going to order some radcals for my TAF but after reading things like this I think I am sticking with regular decals.

Thanks for confirming.
Question/Opinions - What would make the best base color to paint a cabinet before applying these?
Most likely White or Black. I'm leaning towards black to make the colors stand out better (just a guess).

Well, Indiana Jones is also a light-colored decal...
I did blue under a whirlwind. Keep in mind that the exposed areas that aren't covered by the radcals should preferably match the radcal. Many cabinets have varying amounts of fade on them and won't currently match.

Yes, good point... I was planning on painting the corners, top & inside of the head, before installation. I think I'll end up painting the whole cabinet & head, before installation of Rad-Cals.
If I were doing my ij radcals again I would definitely do a little paint coat under the radcals. Just a light quick job would do. I could barely see what was under.
Nothing beats a nice set of screened decals.
Radcals are convenient to install, but something about the shininess throws me off a bit on a classic game. They look great, just different... I also hate custom price cards on an apron as well so I guess I’m more of a purist.
I’d certainly consider them if I picked up a cheap game with badly faded artwork as I really don’t have the space to properly rebuild a cab.
Since you’re doing all the proper standard prep work maybe just go for standard decals!

If possible, please provide a picture. I am curious to see how noticeable. Thanks.
Quoted from bballfan:Yes I did a while back on an Addams.
Request a front with no holes.
Seems like it would be difficult to cut the circles perfect. Did you get a replacement?

Hole saw!
BSD did not come with a hole for the start button. I used Forstner bits to cut all of the bolt and button holes, after hand-turning a Forstner or brad tip bit from the inside to mark the location of the hole.
Also beware that the decals go right to the edge of the backbox or cabinet. If you have rounded over corners you may need to repair them or the decals will overhang.
I think they look great -- BSD colours are terrific.

Spent all day today rebuilding backbox corners with bondo. Decided to test fit the coin door decal tonight just to see and now I’m cussing lol.
Yeah my ij radcals took some shimmying to get everything to work. But in the end I got a satisfactory fit.

Yes I got a replacement but had to return the original to swap.Luckily he was at TPF to do the trade.
It’s not hard to cut this material.I used a dremel 80 grit sanding bit after drilling it close to size.
Anyone have photos of these installed on an Addams Family? Also, any hope of a run for Doctor Who someday?

Here’s a few TAF pics...

Looks like they’re the kind that go under the rails?
If you look close at picture 3 you can see where they just go up to the bottom of the side rails. Looks super nice.
Toucanf16... your TAF looks awesome!!!
Questions:
1) As mentioned; does the RadCals go up to the bottom of glass rail or is there a tiny bit left to tuck under it?
2) Were the head bolt holes precut, or did you drill them. I've seen picts of a Whirlwind with them recessed and no bolts showing. I'm on the fence with which way I prefer.
3) Any tips, tricks or suggestions to offer for a better / easier application?
I've purchased 4 sets of RadCals and will be doing my first one in about a week or 2.
Thanks!
Kerry Richard
Toucanf16...
BTW: I see your Whirlwind in the background. From a distance, the cabinet looks beautiful. Is it original cab, re-decaled or RadCals?

Keep in mind that every bolt puts pressure on the surface of the radcal and will create distortion on the surface. That's why I recessed my bolts on the whirlwind. The bolts are also for reinforcement and would never have to be removed.
