Shadow?
Question on these decals.
So would these be a good idea to for a White Water cabinet that is structurally sound and super clean inside but has issues outside? Front of base cabinet drilled for lock bar also has an extra lock installed (would need to be removed of course) and an inventory tag.
Head has lots of scuffs, scrapes, dings etc.
Basically would these be able to cover up these issues and be durable (i.e. the front of the cab that would now have empty holes)?
Quoted from Scoot:I just put them on my Funhouse. These are fantastic! I will post better pics once I get new legs and repainted coin door.
Can you also please describe the steps/difficulty level to put them on? Thanks.
Any pictures of Bram Stoker's Dracula? I recently bought some "next gen" decals but was disappointed by the lack of colour fidelity to the original. Looking for an alternative.

Ok,
My cabinet was in really rough shape, with gouges, scrapes, and what looks like painting with a roller. The bigger gouges that were on the backbox I filled and sanded, but left the smaller scrapes and various holes be. One side of the cabinet I tried to apply the Radcals without the rails, since new ones hadn't arrived yet. DO NOT APPLY THEM WITHOUT THE RAILS. They act as guides to put them on as they fit flush against them. As you can imagine, once I put new rails on, the RadCals were up a little too high and I had to remove them and reapply. They didn't want to come off but was able to persuade them and pulled off perfect! Of course you have to remove the legs on one side and all the bolts attached to the cabinet and backbox before they go on. I then prepped the area with alcohol and a rag, removing any oil or grime. Then it is as easy as peeling off the backing and putting them on. I put them on myself but would recommend 2 people. I butted the Radcals up against the rail and aligned them to the front corner of the cabinet. Then just slid my hand back and pressed as I went. I didn't have a roller to squeeze all the air bubbles out so I used my palm and all seemed to be fine. Then I drilled out all of the holes from the inside and put the bolts back on. Honestly it took half the time ordinary vinyl decals take and look miles better. Super durable and worth every penny.
Here is a before, and after of the backbox.

Quoted from gripwhip:Can you see any of the old paint/repairs through the new decals?
Not at all. These are pretty thick. They are slightly thicker than a playfield protector and less than playfield plastics. I didn't have holes drilled into the cabinet next to the coin door like my other pins, but the Rascals would cover them no problem. You would never know they were there unless looking from the inside. The only thing you might notice is these are cut very square around the corners and if your back box is missing a little wood around the corners, you will see the Rascals hang down a little. Make sure your corners are filled in and ready for them.

Where do I see / purchase them?
I'm on vacation right now and have limited access to parts to take pictures at this time. You can order any parts via PM or email if they are not listed in the shops. Please understand that I don't want to put much time of the vacation into listing parts in the shops...
I have some pics of radcal sets which were taken with protective film on top, so that are not shiny until it is taken off. But the colors should be ok.
Unfortunately I do not have bsd pics at this time. I will ask my crew to take some on Monday.
Let me know if you have more questions...

Mirco
What would it take for you to make up some SlugFest decals? I know several people who would want these right away. Most of the cabinets are faded so this solution is much more attractive.
Is Judge Dredd available in these? I have a set of vinyl cab decals laying around, but with the shape of the cabinet, I dont want to do the work on the minor scuffs, scratches and lockbar holes that these will cover from what everyone says. On the majority of the Judge Dredd cabinets, the red has all faded to yellow due to the years in the wild. There would be a large desire for these for JD... I know I would be first in line!
Would you consider selling just one component of the Rad Cals? My Creature has really nice artwork everywhere except the front of the cabinet which is somehow faded.

Wouldnt that look obvious though? The finish on these makes it appear like you have a clearcoated cabinet. If you mixed it with original, you would definitely see the difference.
At this time I do not have judge dredd or dr who as both are 3rd party licences we don't have right now. Creature and stargate will happen soon as both licences are active now. Same for their playfields and any other art related stuff.
It looks like Rick has slugfest decals available so it shouldn't be a problem to get radcals made. Just need the cabinet dimensions to verify everything....

Perhaps. But it is also obvious that the front of my cabinet is faded and the sides are not.
Yes that would be visible. The radcals go straight to the corner but everything else need to be painted.

Looks "pretty" good. Those edges make me a bit hesitant. I wonder if there is something else that could be done on those edges like beveling them.
Looks good in your last pic but that second pic is not the best.

That is my only "complaint" ... well, that and I'd love to have the option for glossiness/finish.

I'm in for TOM once you get the updated playtfield done
JP are too simple for this method. I bought a vinyl cutter and made my own.

Could a laminate trim router be used? Seems like you'd get a nice smooth edge, and could using the bearing to follow the hole outline.

A smooth, shiny finish would look awesome on JP. Not to mention the decals are pricey.

Price offsets labor cost with other methods.
With a better end result! Priced fairly for quality of product.

I can just see myself screwing up the vinyl install.

It does look good

Still can be done without rad cals.

Would it not be possible to smooth the edges with sand paper and apply a small, thin coat of clear where needed?

I'm assuming that is what was done here, but where do you get the decals? The only stuff I've seen is the full vinyl wrap. I mean, I guess you could cut the art out of the background. But is there a service or way to get just the art to apply and clear over it? Because all I have found are the full cabinet wraps for like $300 and I know I'll screw that up.
