    Quoted from boustrophedonic:

Almost looks like there's a plastic film on them or something? Do RadCals come with a peel-off protective coating like plastics?

Agree, it looks like you didn't peel the protective film off of them

Protective film has been removed. That's just what they look like.

My IJ radcals look great. TOTAN not so much.

I think the ones I put on MM look amazing.

They look good but not colour correct and has a haze on some decals
    Like totan and CC

I was also disappointed with the TOTAN colours and when I reached out to Mirco he said that this was the colour file provided by Rick. Very happy with my BSD and AF, but agree TOTAN was not worth the cost.

Sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing as TOTAN is on my wish list.

Just ordered a set for my White Water….here’s hoping they are spot on.

I did apply them on my WH2O and they are really nice!

Only problem was the front cutout of the legs - it is larger on the side and doesn't cover completely when the legs are on.
I did cover it up with a selfcut piece as you can see below.

Damn that sucks - you did a good job but these decals aren’t cheap!

I’ve had radcals set aside for my wh2o and tz, just haven’t had the opportunity to cut holes out so they’re still waiting. But my wh2o backbox has unfaded sides and when I put a radcal next to it, the purple on the radcal seems faded, light, not nearly as vibrant. Other than the purple it all seems fine

My decals are pretty bad, but the backbox ones are trash. Being that I have changed essentially everything except that, I figure it will be a big improvement. I just got a forstner bit set, but kinda leery about the hole drilling. I dont wanna jack it up. Are there instructions included, or best practices?

I'd like to know this too, no instructions in my box. Was going to use regular drill bits and then cut the rest with a stanley knife like I would regular decals, especially seeing the bolt holes are square

Re: cutting holes for flipper buttons, start buttons etc on the Rad Cals.

EZPZ, Crisp, Quick and Clean. Simply drill a small pilot hole and drop this Flush Cut router bit in. Clean flush cuts in seconds!

I use the smallest flush cut ball bearing I could find on the Net. Amana Tool MR0105 Miniature 3/16 D Flush Trim with 3/16 D Ball Bearing x 7/16 CH x 1/8 Inch SHK Carbide Tipped Router Bit

I also purchased this for my Dremel. It works beautifully. I showed my 2 buddies and they used the one that came with their Dremel with similar results.

Regarding the cutout of the different holes, just drill a hole and then cut out with a sharp knife and at the end use a dremel bit to make the finish.

Now I just have to find the Australian versions, thanks for the help!

    #469 2 years ago

Tip: The ball bearing on this little flush mount route bit is very sensitive. Meaning: if there is a small burr inside the hole you're attempting to route on the RadCals... it will reflect that small burr (bump) on the RadCal.

With that said: I simply take sand paper and smooth out the inside of the holes. This is done before the RadCals are installed and I spray paint the inside holes black. That way, the ball bearing will have smooth sailing, while doing its job.

It's very clean, quick and an extremely smooth cut.

Creature is in preparation. As well as many others. But I have no free machine time in the next few weeks so new projects have to wait a little. Sorry for that! This is also delaying more new playfield titles. I will get another router in 4 weeks which will add more capacity...

    Mirco

    Hi Highclasspinball

Hope all is well with you?

Just checking to see if there is any thoughts on a CFTBL RAD CALS as I totally, totally love my CV ones and would love to give my creature the same treatment

    Thanks

    #474 2 years ago

Was told mine shipped Oct 5. No tracking sent. I asked for tracking and was told "they don't usually send that".....ok whatever. As of yesterday till no radcals so I inquired about my order and now was told they shipped Oct 29. Yep no tracking again. Perhaps they will come by Christmas.

    #475 2 years ago

Update. Was emailed today that they were shipping today, a full 10 days after the previous shipping confirmation. 3 shipping confirmations so far, 2 of which have been obvious BS, a month and a week apart. Maybe my experience is an anomaly, but I can say that I won’t order another set of these ever again. There is obviously some sort of problem with simple truths, so I’ll hold my tongue. Buyers beware.

    #476 2 years ago

I don’t understand from this thread if people actually like these Radcals or not? Sounds like there are accuracy and color issues.

    #477 2 years ago

WH20 Radcals....Color is off, but Mirco said that's the color he got from Williams.

Can someone post pictures of their Radcals on WH20?

Follow up post. I got my Radcals yesterday, and started doing them tonight. I did the recessed bolts method for the head. So far so good. Only a little to trim around one of the sides and bottom for the head, and the front fit almost perfectly. Tomorrow I tackle the 2 sides.

My WW Radcals were extremely off in color. The blues were almost purple.

    #481 2 years ago

Maybe I am the anomaly but I have purchased many playfields and Radcals from Mirco without incident. With Mirco (or any vendor), I think it is important to have reasonable expectations. Regardless of vendor, it's easy to point out differences between the original and reproduction. Example, I just installed TOTAN Radcals and noticed color differences (trees on coindoor appeared green on Mirco but blue on original). However, when I removed the coindoor, the trees underneath were green (protected from light exposure). The blacks on the Mirco Radcals were a bit faded compared to the blacks on the original too. All that said, once I installed the Radcals.....WOW. They look amazing. As for White Water, the blues are different too. Again, mine may not be 100% perfect match but they look great. Seriously, don't hesitate buying/installing Radcals, you won't be disappointed. Also, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I am happy to share my experiences with this product. Good luck friends!

At the end of the day, we have a choice. For me, I am very thankful to all the vendors that make reproduction parts. I will continue to support Mirco and all the great vendors that go to great lengths to deliver these products. Thank You!

    #482 2 years ago

Here is the pic of the color differences from under the coindoor.

    #484 2 years ago

I don’t get these comments. It’s like giving them a license to steal… or produce subpar quality products just because “there is a choice”. Total BS my opinion.

Edit. If someone wants to point out the subpar quality of the trim work in my house, guilty as charged.

    #487 2 years ago

Finished up today. Much better look than before. Fitment was really good. I trimmed the backbox using the roller router bit and my dremel as mentioned earlier in the thread.

When you recess the bolts, do you fill the Hole with plastic padding afterward or do you leave a small gap under the radcals?

looks like you didn't takeoff the protective film.
I find that the legs dig into the RadCals so I had a buddy make some thicker spacers. The thin ones are sterns.

Anyone who got the IJ radcals that had issue with the lines doesn’t match up on one side (right) but fits nicely on the other side (left)?[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Looking through pics of original games, I think getting the lines to fit nicely might have been an afterthought for BW too.

Sorry for your predicament. My White Water was good on fitment. You’d think for $400 they would be flawless…..

Has anyone installed these on a game with the taller Williams side rails? I'm looking to put these on a Bride of Pinbot, but I'm concerned about the front edge. Even on the rad cals with the regular rails, you can see a little space where the rail curves and the rad cal doesn't cover. With the taller rails, the curve is more pronounced, and if the rad cal doesn't go under the rail, it's going to leave a large exposed space.

BoP is a unique purple, and with the color issues people are having, I'm concerned this will be a problem.

There's also a new category for "mirror" rad cals. Has anyone seen these and can attest to the difference?

Finally, where are you guys ordering from, and is Mirco ever responding to questions? His site looks semi-abandoned, and doesn't have a contact form or info. I reached out through Pinside and have not heard back.

    Thanks!
