Var1AbL3 Good input/suggestions. I have actually been working on Art-Topper designs for a while, mostly in thin Stainless Steel that would be laser etched. But I have recently been looking at those 3D type toppers as you suggested as well. So yes, I'm looking into this. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

Thanks for posting that. It's the exact combination I've been considering for my LE arriving tomorrow. Looks great! Which flipper rubbers are these?

Red/Gold turned out pretty well on Foo Fighters IMO. 1956PINHEAD will you have an keyed extended flipper shaft available for the upper flipper?

You sold me, just ordered gold for our le, when it arrives.

Baba_Booey I sent you a PM about this. I'll help you out.

Another satisfied customer! I just finished installing Black Halos with Red rubber on my James Bond. They look and play great. I just feel like I can make shots more consistently. To top it off John's customer service was top notch. I had some issues and he went above and beyond in helping a novice like me sort them out.

BW1029 Happy to assist, we were all novice's at one time. Now you can check the box off on flipper swaps

    #2360 5 months ago

Yep newbie here as well even though I have had pins for years. I found it relatively straightforward to do the job. Took me a lot longer than it should have only because I wanted to go slow and double check every step. Once I did one side I was done with the other in not time at all. This was on a CGC MBR

Very good product and very good instructions

With my original solids, installed on GnR, I had the same issue, looking exactly like yours. After going with the re-worked Halos, I haven't seen the problem.

The newest design doesn't have a lip at the tip. If you've got the older design, it's less an issue if you use full thickness rubbers. I used to do Titan low bounce, but I've found standard titans or red rubber work best for Precisions and ball control.

I think it just shows you play hard.

I want to let everybody know that I was not complaining about my flippers I was just wondering if there was anything I could do to stop it and was unaware that there was a fix so just to let anyone reading this thread and considering Precision Flipper I absolutely love them would never go back to stock even if there wasn't a fix.

How many people have put precisions on GZ?

If so how do you like them?

    #2367 5 months ago

GCS2000 I've used both versions on my GZ and for me I prefer the solid top version. Explanation is that they seem to fit my style of play a bit more since I'm more of a 'Shoot on the fly' type of player. Hope that helps, I'm sure others will chim in.

I have tried both solids and Halos in my GZ. They are maddening…. “What did this doosh just say??”

    * They make it TOO EASY to play with the flipper angle. Ha! I constantly have the glass off trying to find the optimum placement to consistently hit the scoop on right and spinner on left. I am sure my sucky skill level has nothing to do with said INconsistency.

Seriously though, you cant go wrong with either. I prefer the look of the halos personally. Additionally, I did lower the flipper power considerably on all machines. They really do rocket off those babys!

It is a fantastic product with excellent support and customer service. Good luck.

Yep and that describes us a bit too. We are more bangers/flippers than aimers.

My wife is definitely that and worse she is a dreaded double flipper (costs her so many times) and she REFUSES TO NUDGE the game. She considers it cheating - don't go there I have tried for 20+ years and just walk away every time she loses a ball when a simple nudge would keep it in play.

As you know you just got my new order, 3 flipper kit in gold for GZ and a 2 flipper kit in silver for CCR thanks again!

anyone have suggestions for flipper power James Bond with Halos, or other games in general?? still trying to get the power just right, I've turned it down a bit but still getting a fair amount of airballs.

    #2372 5 months ago

For Spike 2 games, I've found that lowering flipper power between 15 and 30 points from stock settings is about right. I start by taking 20 points off and adjust from there. YMMV. Good luck.

    #2373 5 months ago

BW1029 I also do as DiabloRush has suggested. If after lowering the game seems slower, or the flippers seems a little sluggish I start dailing the power back in two number values at a time. Once I start feeling like the game plays with just a little more zip than it had, then that's were I stop.

The great thing about lower the coil power is that it pretty much all but elminates any flipper fade over long periods of extended game play. That will vari by game type as well, but it's a huge benefit when playing 4 player games.

My Foo Fighters Premium arrives next week, so I'll be able to report back as to what I ended up with for coil power settings on that game.

Thanks for this info. Lowered the power and it actually plays better than before. Love these flippers

For some silly reason, I didn't even think of separating the left / right flipper power. I've kept them in sync on my TMNT, but will have to start thinking about that.

    #2379 5 months ago

aflamesfan Adjusting to individual coil power is a must depending on the layout/shots. I think all my games have individual settings, none are the same. It will take a little time to dial in the sweet spot, but well worth it in terms of how the game will play. You'll find the shots will be very consistent and smooth when it comes to shooting the loops and ramps.

    #2380 5 months ago

I'm still trying to find that sweet spot on our MBR.

I think I am close but still getting air balls of the Tomb Treasure target.

    #2381 5 months ago

GCS2000 Have you taken a look at that stand up target to make sure it's not been bent backward slightly? Just a thought as if that is the only area of the game that feels like the flipper's are overpowering the playfield I'd take a look at it. You might be close to that sweet spot

Yeah I need to as that target is the only one giving me a problem at the moment. I'll wait til I get the new solid bats I ordered from you and fiddle with everything then. Its also time to check the tightness of everything underneath as we have put plenty of time on the game since the change out.

    #2383 5 months ago

As a general rule, I go over every NIB pin to ensure things are tight underneath the playfield. Sterns in-particular consistently have very loose hardware. I’m amazed, actually, at how consistently every NIB Stern I’ve had recently has needed tightening of (especially) posts. FYI.

I'm considering bringing four new colors into the product line on the next production run. Colors are Bronze/Copper, Violet, Ruby Red/Pink, and Aqua/Teal Blue. Thoughts please?

Bronze is very cool and different I dig it

    Might look good on CCR

And I would definitely take that violet color for MBR as it would look better than the bright purple I have now.

    #2388 5 months ago

are the silver ones anodized (clear) yet or just raw

    Cheers Dean

    #2389 5 months ago

fourvdean The silver flippers are raw finish, no clear anodize applied.

    Thanks for asking.

    1956PINHEAD

Changed out my bats from halos to solid last night on my MBRLE. I also decided to check on how snug everything was after my initial install a couple of weeks ago. Couple of issues I need some clarification on please.

First both flippers were very loose now. Both the clamp bolt as well as the bolt/nut combo attaching to the plastic coil arm were quite loose. I decided to tighten them both as much as I could - like really tight (FYI I am using your new clamp set up on this game)

RT flipper tightened up fine and appears to work as it should.

LT flipper I cannot tighten the clamp bolt nearly as much as I did on the RT. If I tighten it too much the arm will not move freely in and out of the coil and thus the flipper will not "return" to a resting position after it flips. It stops about half way. I can move it back to resting manually of course but it will not go back on its own. Only way to get it to go properly work is to loosen the clamp bolt til it moves freely.

Second issue (same LT flipper) when playing and hitting the ball with the LT flipper it seems to take off i.e. airball off the flipper immediately as if the the flipper is flipping up when it goes instead of parallel to the playfield. This does not occur with the RT flipper at all.

I am on -10 for flipper power at this point and already feel like that it may be a hair low. If I go lower I cannot hit the ramp shots w/o hitting things perfectly.

I do not see a way to change each flipper individually.

    LMK your thoughts.

    Thanks

    Greg

    #2398 4 months ago

GCS2000 It almost sounds like maybe the left side flipper bushing is not perpendicular to the playfield or flipper mech base plate, thus that would also perhaps cause the coil plunger to not run smoothly in it's sleeve. Maybe take a look at the mounting flange on the flipper shaft bushing to make sure there are no gaps all around when mounted to the flipper mechanism base plate, it should be flush all around. I'd also check the coil mounting as well to make sure it isn't cocked or out of place.

This is a strange one, haven't encountered this prior, but what I've suggested would be a good place to start. Feel free to send me some photos via PM as well, or even give me a call after you've taken a look. I'd also compare the left and right flipper mech's in general to see if anything stands out.

Lastly, you can actually over tighten things as well. In fact I typically just snug the screws/nuts for the link arms and coil plunger as there is no benefit to cranking them down real tight, that could actually cause the binding you're experiencing at the clamp side as well. In general snug is OK, the nylon locking feature of the nuts will prevent the hardware from coming loose.

    Thanks,
    John

Can we get some side-by-side with the current colors? Always look a little dif in pictures, helps to see them against a known. Really dig that bronze though, agree would look good in rush. Really liked black with purple bands when I had Rush though.

So I tried to get some additional photos with all the current color offerings. The new proposed colors are: Foo LE Green, Ruby Red/Pink, Copper/Bronze, Light Blue/Teal, and Violet. Very hard to capture good photos with my phone, may try again with my real camera later. The light Blue/Teal is just a shade lighter than my current blue.
