More good naming suggestions coming in, keep 'em coming.
I'm seeing some others upvoting some, and or making reference to suggestions they like, I encourage others to do the same. I know in the end it's my decision but having all of you participating helps.
You have until noon August 31st to make suggestions. I'll try to make my final selection by mid-day and will notify the winner via PM to make certain they will allow me to adopt the name for use at my full discretion. I will also be picking an 'Honorable Mention', or runner up who will get a free set of these flipper bats as well.
Thanks again

EX-Factor Flippers The thought process for this name is that it is Playing off of the Exo-skeletal look and Exact and precise dimensions you use to make these. The combination of the two equal The EX-Factor between these Flippers and standard flippers.... .Just felt it was important to share the reasons why that name on this one.. putting in some real thought over here LOL
One question regarding the small plastic washer that is between the stock plastic flipper and the plastic bushing. Do you use it for the precision alu flipper and the alu bushing as well or not or does it not matter?
Quoted from flynnibus:Halo Flipper Bats
The fucking nerve. More front than a white shirt.
And it's someone else's suggestion.
Zora to date I have not found there to be any small plastic washers between the base of the flipper bats and bushing in any of the games I've removed the stock plastic flippers from. Just curious which game (s) you have found these washers to be present?
In answer to your question I do not provide a plastic washer with my kits. I did experiment with a hybrid composite type thin washer during testing a few months back and found it had no effect on play/performance.
Thanks for asking.

Classic stern ones have these.
I have dug out 2 of the first gen one's and 2 of the second gen's. They are slightly thinner than a classic bally and I'll have them off to you next week.
There are 2 different shaft lengths as well with them, when you get to that point if you want to do the step in on the shaft or not we'll have to take some readings off my installed flippers to see where to put the cut in. I think the cut in the shaft was to help the operator locate the flippers vertically, but also if the set screw digs into the shaft when it's smooth it could push metal outward and make the flipper impossible to remove from the pawl.
Since your flippers adjust and remove from the top you could probably put a slot or something there to help alleviate that. Lots of different ways to fix this.
I assume you will need bushings for samples as well? I'll have to dig back into my boxes of parts to get a couple of those. How much does the bushing add to the feel of the new flipper though? I think a lot of the oomph that comes from it is because it's solid metal so no flexing like a plastic bat does.

The washers are in a Stern Jurassic Park.
I understand that no washers are necessary. However, I already used them for your kit, should I remove them again?
Another small issue: after the flipper comes down, it bounces back upwards a bit before it comes to the resting position. Any idea, what causes this effect?
Zora Thanks for the update, strange when I did my JP flipper swap no plastic washers were present. No need to remove them, having them installed won't effect anything, so just leave them in.
Early on DiabloRush did some experimenting with the flipper rebound at the return, this was done using the original full aluminum bushings which I believe you have. What he did was to remove two or three windings/coils from the return spring which resolved that rebound. It also had no real impact on flipper performance or driving the coils to work harder or heat up. He also determined that depending on the game layout/orientation of the flipper mechanism this effect was not present.
As a follow-up after he installed the newer style bushings incorporating the oilite bronze sleeves this effect went away completely.
Hope this helps!
John
Although I think the name of this product is already captured perfectly fine in the thread subject line and this name game is a ploy to keep the thread bumped to the top for sales:

Not exactly a new or offensive marketing strategy?
People clearly enjoy a giveaway and are happy to bump, even those you'd least expect.

I also think this thread might the most positive and fun that is or has been on pinside... Another side thought topic for those who have been on this site long enough to see the world turn a bunch of times... Is that statement true? Why or why not?
Quoted from Vespula:I also think this thread might the most positive and fun that is or has been on pinside...
It's gotten quite fun and useful, absolutely. The first week, not so much. I got called all sorts of names and was accused of being a shill, etc. I'm just glad that others are finding the same advantages I did. I was a lonely voice for a couple of weeks, until others started installing these.
Post # 26 I said this. Haven't heard much from them fellas in the last 30 days. The public will be heard despite those early, very vocal naysayers and I-Know-Better-Than-You types. <cough, just look at one of the downvotes and you'll be like, oh yeah, of course>
And this name is already perfect. Precision Pinball CNC Flipper System
Quoted from PoMC:Told myself after reading the original post, I bet person X and X will be quick repliers and nay-sayers.
OP probably shouldn't have mentioned a "Light amount of lubricant", because I knew someone would latch on to that instantly.
Interesting product and several of us were discussing over here at pinball night on Sat.

You called it. And, to be clear, it's overall now been a 100% awesome experience for me. Thanks to my posting the early review, John reached out and asked my opinions for his upcoming ideas. Most significantly, we consulted on the oilite bearings that become v2 of the bushings, and he sent me a couple early versions of the Ghost Flippers to playtest. I've had lots of fun discussions and a grand time helping John in a bunch of little ways, something I've enjoyed immensely.
John is way too modest to mention any of this, but he has a long and well-known history in another hobby I enjoy: RC Helicopters. He's quite famous in that community as an early pioneer. Not only was he an AMA National Helicopter champion in the 1970s (when it was REALLY hard to build much less fly these things), he and his father formed a famous company selling RC Helis (Kavan). That's a story itself (a plane crashed into their factory, and John barely escaped with his life). During all this, he was THE RC Heli guy for Hollywood. He's did tons of models and flying for many blockbuster movies, including Blue Thunder and the Towering Inferno. Look it up. The guy is literally a Legend. I hope he doesn't mind me giving a bit of his background. He's way more than qualified to build the best pinball mod of the year.
My objective for this naming contest was for it to be Fun for everyone, heck it's given me some good entertainment and laughs along the way. I also think that it's opended up some creativity being on the receiving end of numerous PM's about other suggestions for other products. This new flipper bat is one of a few things that I've been working on to offer more choices to those who have bought the system.
I've also got a couple other components that I'm designing now that will continue to build on this system, under the playfield stuff. There's more on the horizon, like I said, I like to tinker

Any word on when purple will be available?
I just might have to have some Flipper Bats done in Purple. I've had a few inquiries about that color, so I guess stay tuned at this point.
Waiting for all color options in the cut out version……Want to drop any teasers on your upcoming offerings??
A few have inquired about my offering the new hollowed out bats in colors. I might offer them down the road as a limited edition only, but honestly that's a ways off.
No teasers yet, but it is below the deck stuff to improve what needs improving down under!

also, if working on under table efforts…. Keeping the EOS plastic level when tightening shaft needs to get easier…oh and auto-launch slop in modern sterns…
Great product, got my red bats in AIQ this week. Plays great!
I’ve read the first few pages of this thread and it’s a bit embarrassing.
Love it when the self proclaimed pinside experts get tutored by an actual qualified expert, and you can see the bravado slowly deflating until they silently disappear from the thread.
Anyway, I’ve got 1956PINHEAD ’s Avengers disc and that thing is a precision tuned piece of art. It makes a real and significant difference. Very keen to try his flipper mechs based on my experience with that alone.
Quoted from 1956PINHEAD:Early on DiabloRush did some experimenting with the flipper rebound at the return. (snip) What he did was to remove two or three windings/coils from the return spring which resolved that rebound.
As the subject of flipper rebound has come up a few times, I'd thought I'd add a bit of info as well as some solutions for anyone that might experience this.
First, it's pretty rare. I only saw this effect on GZ. All the other games I've installed Precision Flip into have not had excessive flipper rebound. IMHO, the orientation of the flipper mech matters, with games that have the mech in a vertical orientation with the plunger returning downhill being the most susceptible.
When this first arose, I did a bit of testing I shared with John. I took slo-motion video (200 fps) of the effect and various solutions. Here's one of those videos from my GZ. The 2 flippers here have different return springs. The flipper on the left has a shortened return spring making it stronger. The flipper on the right is the stock spring. You'll clearly see the difference, below.
That video was the original, all aluminum bushings with (roughly) 2 mils of slop. I found the new oilite bushings (with less than 1 mil of slop) also dramatically reduced this problem. So much so, I didn't need to use a stiffer spring on GZ.
So, in sum:
1) it's rare to have excessive flipper rebound. I only saw this on GZ using v1 bushings and stock springs.
2) it can be fixed by either using a stiffer spring (remove a few coils from stock) or just use the v2 bushings.
Hope that helps.

I think you meant to say “once the concerns raised were listened to and addressed with a new revision of the product based on those concerns”
And more transparency was added.
But your judgement has been filed
