Reusing metal bell type stands on new plastics

    This method works great for me when installing new plastics. Insert a #2 Phillips screwdriver in the bottom of the metal stand, heat the top for 4-5 seconds(@400 degrees) with a round soldering tip inserted, wiggle the post out. Insert a #24 drill blank (a 5/32" drill bit is close) into the hole work around the top section with a smooth jaw pliers to reform/shrink the top. Drill out the new plastic hole with an 11/64" drill bit, insert the post for a nice snug fit. If you used a 5/32" drill bit instead of the #24 blank you may wish to check the fit before drilling the hole to 11/64"
