Quoted from DBLM:

At 44, I am not counting on Social Security being there for me. It will be just in addition to my retirement plans. Does anybody else have this mindset?

I do. If OAS (old age security) is there when I can collect it then bonus. But I'm not anticipating it. I feel like it will be raided before I am eligible.

I don't want to derail this thread....but universal health care isn't what it's all cracked up to be.

We have people dying in the ER waiting rooms here. People can't get a doctor. And the wait list for one is up to 8 years.

We also have Medical Assistance in Death here as well. (MAID) Which is expanding to include other groups besides those with terminal illnesses.

Basically, if I could, I would rather pay less taxes over the course of my life and pay for my own health insurance. Just wanted to give my 5 cents. (Since a penny no longer exists here)
