My wife and I are both 62. she retired from a long academic career last year with good insurance. I have been self employed for a long time and work only 0-20 hour weeks now. We grow much of our own food, have no debt and live simple. no fancy TV, no cable, rarely eat out, built our own house and do our own maintenance. We expect to live off of savings until 67 when SS can kick in. I do love to travel to off the beaten path places in Latin America and the Caribbean staying in simple accommodations in local neighborhoods and eating cheaply, often for less than staying at home. I never believed that fancy toys and gizmos added much to quality of life. In 40 years we have only owned three cars.
Maybe it's good or bad, but I only have room for two pins at home although have three rented out to friends.
