Following intently!
I assume you take lots of pictures as you disassemble? Or do you have parts catalogs for these games? I try to go through one game at a time so I dont have to make many notes. The number of games you appear to be working at the same time might put me over the edge.
Dude, you have no idea TONS and TONS of pix from different angles too.
Got about 10 games going on right now. All in varying states. While one waits for say, powder coating, pcb repair, etc. another could be waiting for stencils to be cut, paint, other parts on order etc. while another might be waiting for artwork to be printed, glass to be cut, etc.. So it can get pretty confusing, but to only work on 1 at a time would take me forever.
The EM games take the LONGEST time by far. My Sega Ems (Killer Shark, 2 Sea Devils) are just sitting there very close to working 100% but i'm stuck and can't find a tech to help me wrap them up. Super frustrating.
Normal arcade machines go pretty fast, but EMs and Pins take a looooong time to restore.
Here's the status on what i'm working on.
Sega Jumbo: needs the 2-3 player relay to work, not getting power, then its done.
Midway Haunted House: works but I'm not getting power to the coin chutes and start button.
Gottlieb Spirit #1: test button isn't working, a few standup targets aren't registering scores.
Gottlieb Spirit #2: is missing interconnect cables (on order now)
Space Harrier is done, just need to take pix for Ebay
Tail Gunner is pretty much done but i had to track down 2 huge coils (got them in yesterday) for the power supply before i can test the pcb
Team Hat Trick: print side art, powder coat brackets, finish build
Hat Trick: install new under glass decal, frosted plexi
Sonar: Clean up, fix submarine, test
Change Lanes: get working (buying heat sync)
And i have about 5 super secret rare games that i'm building from scratch...

Oh and its really fun going back to finish a game after starting it a year or two before and LOSING the box of parts or even just one impossible to find or make game specific part.
Losing game specific parts is a pain even if it's only the one game you are currently working on.
I do pinball only. Mostly EM which to me keeps it simple as long as game specific stuff is available. Rarely restoration. I've done two High Speed playfield swaps and one MB playfield swap in the last 16 months. The first HS was a pain because it was a new repro playfield so you have to validate placement of everything. The second one was a breeze because it was a restored playfield and the alignment was right from the start. The MB was a pain again being a repro and having to validate alignment but it was still easier than the repro HS.
Nice! Playfield swaps are no joke. Takes a long time to do them right.

I want to replace some of the toasty coils. I tracked down most of them. Prices range quite a bit.

Thanks, yeah this may be my last EM. Just takes too long to restore these things.
Maybe if I had a tech in So California I'd be more willing to do these but as of now having 5 EMs dead in the water really takes the wind out of my sails.
Your work is inspiring and your frustration is more than understandable. I may be able to connect you to someone very capable in SoCal. Feel free to PM me.
Quoted from PACMAN:This is what $250 worth of NOS Midway gold foil decals look like.
Egad, now I'm apprehensive about using one that I have for my Midway Invaders from Outer Space door. I never knew that they were such a costly item.
Yeah i know, its crazy. There's only so many left unfortunately.

Quoted from PACMAN:This funky 1960's laminate cleaned up nicely.
My Space Gun has the same laminate. I always thought this was some sort of modification that was done to the machine as it’s sooooo out of place. It belongs in a kitchen!
If these machines weren’t so rare I would seriously consider replacing it with something else.
11/16 is the wrong size. These are 1/2 inch. Don't buy 11/16
Quoted from waltrr:After seeing yours, it might be time to pull my White Lightning out of storage, been there a long time
You can get the 11/16" balls from Salem ball, http://www.salemball.com/ that's where I purchased the ones I put in my Midway Deluxe shooting gallery . They were perfect.
I just wanted to chime in and say all your rebuilds I've seen are simply amazing! I don't chime in a lot, but I love seeing your posts, thank you for taking time to share it with us all.
You save such awesome and rare items, I hope you can continue to do so happily for a long time!!
Can't wait to see more!
Thanks! We'll see how it goes. I think i may have found a local tech. Crossing fingers.
