You'll want to make sure if that is termite damage that there isn't an active infestation. They may not be native to your area, but there are dry wood termites that live inside the wood they're eating.

If you're any good at woodwork, the cabinet's not too complex to remake. Chances of finding another Stars cab that has a blown out pf seems slim. So you may end up investing in whole game. Find another classic Stern and you'll have to deal with stencils anyway, so why not remake it? Heck, you could probably even repair it with Bondo or something.

I love my Stars, but at the end of the day, they're not super valuable, so take that into consideration before investing much into a new cab, unless it a grail pin of yours.

Quoted from vid1900:

Just email him, he is still there, just taking care of some family stuff.
Have the cab made of MDO, it's plywood with a thin skin of MDF. It's sanded and pre-primed. This saves you many hours of sanding, filling and priming; because it's totally ready to go.
For anyone building their own cab:

Aww, yeah! A Menards is opening down the street from me, soon... just a little ways from Lowes and Home Depot. Never had the pleasure of shopping at a Menards. Are they any better?

Quoted from vid1900:

Make sure you use fiberglass on the corners, if you use just Bondo, it will chip out a big chunk the first impact.

Is the fiberglass kind any better smelling than the regular Bondo? That stuff can stink up the whole house for a while. I personally don't like using it because of the smell.
