Glad to see you up and going again moving forward on this. That speaker panel look amazing! Cannot wait to see it all lit up and running. Who did you use for the new speaker panel?

Thanks man. So I was able to dig up a nos speaker panel!! Found it on eBay
Quoted from Soulrider911:Ya I got taken out knee surgery #10... no bueno I mean it could always be worse I could not have a leg, but shoot... it’s rough
Been there done that! try the "ice man" .... helped recovery time and pain on my knee and shoulder surgeries...
Been a while but finally got the last major component for the restore... the cabinet from Paul at Virtuapin and boy what a beauty it is, well worth the wait.
THe old and new side by side. The old one actually didn't have too bad of fading. But the new is blue throughout aside from the bottom instide and it looks amazing.

First started on getting the backbox together. was pretty painless, just had to drill for the gi light panel mounts. Other then that went pretty smooth.
All the boards have been repaired to better than new by @chrishibler, he does such great work.

Wow, looks great!
Where did you get the fuse decal in the backbox? I’ve been trying to hunt down one of those and haven’t found who makes them yet.
this is insane! I hope the Sasquatch Spotlight (https://goo.gl/D42gZr) lives up to your expectations.

My guess is he gets them from Soulrider911
cosmokramer I can make you one or a few if you would like DW3000
Thankyou zene10 I can’t wait to see your amazing mod in action !

Great work so far soulrider. Fun to watch. I am in Marin so we are pretty close.
I don't know if the information is generally out there, but what does a complete ready to go cabinet like that cost?
Dave
Calipindave I would ask cosmokramer he does amazing cabinets, mine came from virtuapin I think it was roughly 1100.00

That seems quite reasonable.

Holy cow @soulrider911 you have been busy making some awesome progress. It's all coming together now and looking fantastic as well.
Quoted from Ericc123:This is incredibly impressive. I can't wait to see the finished project.
I second that. Attention to detail here is amazing. Love the small things like the chrome pieces inside the cabinet.
@ Soulrider911 ...would you mind letting us know where you sourced that black sheathing that you're using on your wiring harness? I'm in the middle of a pretty meticulous resto on an older Ford truck and I really don't want to go back to the cheap plastic loom that the factory used. Underhood temps make the lifespan of that around 2 years!

Yes! So it’s called “braided split loom”, works great I have used it on cars, motorcycles and now pins haha! It comes in different weaves, colors, diameters, and thickness. The stuff I’m using here was from amazon I think

Another Fun weekend in the garage drinking coffee and working away on Whitewater. The cabinet interior is really starting to look like a pinball machine. Almost ready to drop the playfield in.

And added the - controversial - inner cab art. Personally, this game has one of the best “worlds under glass” and the side art significantly adds to that
E9BEFC10-29F5-4AE5-BE74-4B759F76B47C (resized).jpegWell major snag in the build. So I got the side rails on, playfield in - ya playfield supports where backwards duh...

Then I was test fitting glass, and noticed a major discrepancy.
The glass would not “sit” in the guides at the base, the guides where too far apart, hmm... you had to carefully hold the glass until it sat in the rails about 10” up from the base of the glass guides.

Ok, so that’s not right. Next try to test fit the lockdown bar... no go, so I bent the ears a little bit, which sometime you have to do as chrome adds thickness. I then tried to install it again gave a little push... “crrraaack” both side rails chrome cracked, dunzo.
So brief panick attack and then got out the measuring tape.
Back is 22” on the dot

So I contact Paul at virtualpin, and I must say, that guy is a stand up customer focused businessman. He is not only going to build be a new lower cab, he is also going to pay for the damaged side rails. As much as all of this is unfortunate, knowing he is taking care of me makes this all just a minor bump in the process. Onward!
I have always wondered how the side rails attach, as mine is loose on one side. Other than the one bolt, is it double sided tape? Is there a certain type or thickness recommended?
@poleposition yes double sided tape, if to do remove them you will most likely want a chisel, heat gun and lots of patients if you need to remove them. Also it’s veey hard to fully remove them without damaging them, but it can be done. Most likely what is loose is that plastic guide under the metal trim?
I put mine back on with double sided gorilla tape. you could pull a car - bumper to bumper with that stuff!!
Also, I used a long knife and pulled it over and over again in the same direction under the rail, worked well.

Wow that really sucks but super cool that the seller is going to remedy the problem. Always good to hear about stand up people in the business!

The metal trim is loose, but it may be the plastic guide as well. Near the backbox, I can tap on the side rail and it will move in and out about 1/8" to 3/16". Now that I know its held in place with double sided tape, I can try to gentle remove it without damage. Its just the back half of one side, so I'll want to avoid any cab or rail damage hopefully.
Thanks!

Thanks for posting this info. I’m going to be buying a cabinet from Paul in the near future and it’s great to hear that he stands behind his work.
Hmmm, thats weird...it looks like 22 1/32" (almost looks like 22 1/16) in the rear and 22 1/8" in the front, only 3/32" difference...Im suprised you are having difficulty as I have had some customers have me build a few cabs at 22 1/8" so they can put in mirror blades with no issues...
I wonder if the chrome adds that much thickness?

Im glad you are getting a replacement with no issues, Paul is a stand up guy
cosmokramer ya it’s kinda crazy how much that additional 1/8 adds. I mean I can’t fit ANY lockdown bar on even with no rails... unless it’s oretty significantly bent. I tried 3.

I have been patiently waiting as well, this game looks stunning and Im really looking forward to seeing it all buttoned up. WH20 is probably my next resto after I recover from the TOM resto I am currently working on.
Man this has been killing me... been waiting almost 2 months for my replacement cabinet from virtualpin as pps it out of decals . And I really want to get started on my creech restore. Thanks for checking in folks!

I ended up going with rad cals for mine (wont be kicking off my restore for a few months). Hope your able to get yours soon.

I have a VUK available. PM sent.
Brady, whats your opinion on the skull mountain mod? I saw you painted and installed yours and was curiuos how you thought it look
Im considering ordering one for my game. I have had the game for about 2 years but just recently started playing it after packing it up to move.
I really had no idea how much there was to do in this game...

I really like the skull mold design. I think it looks great and fits the game well.
Unfortunately a few downsides:
- the paint/color didn't match my boulders
- the LEDs used for eyes aren't very visible and are dependent on direct line of sight.
- mine cracked after a few games. The plastic isn't strong enough to survive a direct strike
cosmokramer Looks wise, once I matched the color i really like it. However, I am yet to turn on my game lol...
It's interesting the comment Reznnate made. When I was installing this mode on my game, I literally stopped at one point as I was mounting the mod and thought... "as soon as a ball strikes either one of the legs (pieces that extrude on the bottom to rest on the ramp sides) this thing is going to break." That being said have to see how long it lasts... the mounting is garbage IMO, any ball strike and it's going to be all sideways.
I am on the fence on the skull mountain mod myself, I was worried it was perhaps hiding too much of the PF. With the stated build quality (and I thought the LED's in the pics looked kinda dinky as well, so it was nice to see Reznnate confirm) I may pass for now.
The virtual pin cab dude should just spring for rad cals so he can get you your damn cab already, crikey (mine ended up only being maybe 10 or 20 bucks more that vinyl in the end)
