Hi guys,
I'm restoring my Indiana Jones and I have little damages on the playfield. I restored the shirt, like the pictures before and after,of Harrison Ford.
After that I have other damages to repair but it seems impossible or too too expensive because in this parts the playfield is layer printed.
The questions are:
-could the playfield be repaired there ?
-If I clear coat the playfield with these damages , I increase or decrease the value of It?
- what do you do at my place?
- someone could repair it?

Half tone is a major issue. I know a few people restore using hand application of the dots- its tedious beyond belief but if done right actually works out quite well-
You will have to make a decision on how much to redo- then put down the base color and add the dots back! Good luck! Remember- its possible!!
Clearcoating without doing touch up, won't be a good idea to me...
Yellow parts are easy to do, but orange...is going to be difficult, but you may also try to scan these zones and touch up on computer, and make a sticker and then clearcoat. It may be easier for you or for someone who have photoshop skills.
I did it for a roadshow and nobody saw it.
You may also your treat your inserts as the ark to be complete.
Good luck!
It is very hard work I understood. Probably I'll put makrolon on that and do the work next time. I have to organize too much things to do it. Thanks guys
Using a makrolon is a good idea, it will protect your playfield the time you organize yourself.
But there is no overlay for indy, if there is, it will never fit the real size as many decals on the market, the best is make your own, zone by zone.
I would first remove the Mylar, completely remove everything from the top of the playfield, and use a polishing kit to see how much of the dirt you can remove. Then either wax and put some new Mylar, or send to a someone who can do touchups and a nice clear coat. Frank Niro in France looks like he does very nice work - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/medieval-madness-pf-high-level-restoration.
Quoted from RGAires:
You can remove that marks with a magic eraser, patience and you can do it
Just remember, when you are doing that you are also removing what little clearcoat WMS put on it and possibly paint. You will see that area looks dull compared to the rest of the playfield. That's where the mylar comes in (those half moon mylars that go in front of slings). For gods sake don't just use ME, the ball will eventually destroy that area.
