That is what I thought although wanted to check in case there was a reason for it. Will install a 1N4148 to return it to spec.

I did think that maybe a reason, in this case the yellow wire goes to an external AA battery holder. It had non rechargeable batteries installed. Maybe it had rechargeable batteries at some stage although not sure. I will just return the board back to spec.
