Reset NVRAM on a System 7 board with Firepower ROMs

I am running Okaegi's Firepower extended ROMs on a System 7 board. With a 5101 on the board it works perfectly.

If I install an NVRAM chip, it plays weird. I'm pretty sure I need to reset the RAM.

I can't work out a way to do this on the System 7 board. This system 7 board has the dip switches and the 2 diagnostic switches so I tried the reset method that would work on a System 6 board, but it does not work.

It's possible I am using the wrong dip switch on the system 7 board and also possible that I have them all "on" rather than all "off". Has anyone done a reset on a System 7 board that has a System 6 game running?
