Quoted from ZooDude:

I've been looking into making screens for the games I'm restoring myself as it doesn't seem like these are getting made, I bought a couple extra aprons for my games so I can mess around with it. Anyone else do one off screens for their restore? How does HEP do it?
B

I didn’t do a one off screen, but given that the apron graphics on the ones I have done were only two colors, I used a silhouette vinyl cutter to create the graphics, and apply them to freshly repainted aprons. It worked great.

cool, I'd love to see pics of the finished product. I'm not a big fan of vinyl stickers, they tend to look wrong to me, but I would be interested to see how yours came out. Thanks!

I have done two, one for my TZ, and the other for a Sorcerer.

My TZ apron can be found here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/my-twilight-zone-restoration-in-the-twight-zone/page/2#post-5824663

Does anyone know if Eight Ball Deluxe repro aprons are available anywhere?

What I have is resized for Bally Apron, which is different than Stern surprisingly.

I have two Bally Safaris and one needs an apron. I have the apron, but it's all rusty. Does anyone repair these and put on new decals? This is a picture from the one that is in good shape.

I bet if we went to Print-O-Stat here in York, they could scan and make a new decal. That place is 2 minutes from my house.

Some that are actually the correct color this time would be nice too. I'd buy at least one.

i have this bally apron. i'm not sure of what game i even got it from.
it looks like it fits 1968 thru 1974 ballys, but not sure if 1 player, 2 player, or 4 player versions, or if they all interchange?

7 1/2 height, just over 18 width. any guide or input on fitment?

I've been looking for a while since I don't care for the look like ass ones Classic Arcades puts out and has carte blanche to per Planetary for God knows why.

Found someone doing really nice vinyl overlays for these now. Next best thing to a reproduction apron.

What method of painting the apron did you employ?

Looks like a standard Monte Carlo/Odds & Evens/Joker apron. Unless there is something special about it I am missing?

It also fits space time (4 player) and time zone (2 player) so I believe it is standard.

I saw one of his Playboy playfield overlays installed and clear coated. What a waste of clearcoat. His products are HORRIBLE. It almost looks like he downloaded a JPEG of the playfield, applied a smoothing filter to it, and just printed it. The colors are beyond awful. I am not talking a shade off ... they're just awful. I wouldn't recommend anything this guy sells.

Guys, Guys. Gals.
Merf and Brenna are retired from making aprons.
Until someone pics up the torch this thread is dead.
Many have tried, few have succeeded.

I think most people in this thread understand this and are just hoping some enterprising, creative and artistic folks will recognize that there's still demand here to tap into. If not an entire reproduction apron, at the very least reproduction decals for those hard-to-find aprons (all early Sterns, '84 EBD with the Bally/Midway logo, etc. etc.) that can be salvaged via sand-blasting and repainting the base color.

What is the going price for used Bally Aprons?
Are some worth more than others?
Wondering if anyone has seen the quality of the Apron Decals that classic arcade is selling, if I decide to do a repaint.

Quoted from Tophervette:

With Classic Arcade stuff you have to buy it with the notion that it's better than nothing. It's not the best quality that he puts out so if you're someone that is a stickler for quality or you have OCD, you may want to pass.

Classic Arcades is not the best quality, now that's quite the understatement. OCD? If you have eyes, you may want to pass.

I was trying to be nice! To me his stuff is sh.. but others have the attitude "it's better than nothing"! Look at the crap Mirco puts out .... people love him cause they happen to win the lottery and got a pf without issues or, to your point, they don't see the the lack of quality!

With Pinball Rescue closing down, I've found a few other sites that offer apron decals. I haven't bought any of these decals, so I don't know the quality, and I don't know if any of them are licensed by Planetary Pinball.

Planetary Pinball offers quite a few apron decals and holds the B/W license so they should be good quality. Only 10 so far, but hopefully he'll start making more.

Bally apron cores- $25+. I was selling restored aprons and shooter gauges at Pinfest for $150. They were repainted, new decals and then shot with automotive clear coat and new cards.

Thanks. I have been seeing a group of 5 used Bally Aprons on Ebay in Italy selling for $160 plus $40 shipping for over a year. I have offered him 50% less and he came back with $140 total.

Once you see it....
The sad part is the issue has not been fixed in 10 years & PPS still issues the license

It won’t link… but I think I know what your talking about.

Took me a minute but I'm assuming it's the kerning on "PI NBALL"?

Hi all I just discovered this thread. Anyone know where I can get a system 11 apron? For whirlwind.

#848 2 years ago

The apron decals that Marco's and PPS sell may be from Classic Arcades, and we've all heard the complaints about wrong colors and sized wrong overlays from Classic Arcades.

I created this forum to discuss stores where you can buy apron decals:

I suggest posting a wanted ad. I'm sure someone has a decent one in their parts stash. If you are interested in an apron decal to fix up your apron then look here:

Awesome, thanks for the link.

I have seen those decals out there for sale on Marco, Planetary, and Ebay. And good to know they are likely from Classic Arcades (not to dump on the guy, but I have heard his stuff is hit and miss).

I will create a WTB ad. And check out your forum.
