Quoted from TechnicalSteam:That's some bullshit think someone hacked the site. Instantly sold out.
This is total b******t. I took 20 seconds to read the details and it was sold out. S**k.

I kept refreshing and got one at the 12:15 mark. If it comes up with one, immediately click buy so it goes into your cart. Don't waste a second, because it you do someone else will click faster.
Quoted from ninjadoug:We are working with our contacts to expand the block at the Omni. If they cannot accommodate, we will work to get another block elsewhere.
Thanks! The pricing of the rooms outside the block (now that it is sold) are crazy.
Quoted from ninjadoug:The waitlist is managed manually, so it isn't updated every time someone gets in off of it.
When tix were sold out at 12:01 I got myself on the waiting list. Then at 12:15 I got tix. I’m sure there were a lot of people like me that ended up there, but won’t need it now.
Quoted from FlashDaddy:Pinburgh doesn't let you practice on the banks between rounds or before the tournament starts, so unfortunately you have to wait until late Friday or Saturday to play the tournament games.
So do we get any chance to see how the game is setup before we play it? Just to see how tight the tilt is, and any setting changes. I don't want to have to tilt out the first ball in competition just to find out the tilt is crazy sensitive.
Quoted from ryanwanger:Best case scenario is you could get practice on 20 or 30 different machines. But there are 300+ and you only play 20 during Pinburgh.
Did you end up actually getting assigned to any of the games you had practiced?
I'll be happy with 10 or so quick tests. Really a couple of Sterns, a couple of 90s, a few of the classics. I'm assuming others are setup similar, so I can get a good dataset from that. I know it won't be the games I'm assigned, but I just want to get a feel of the games before I go down in flames... oh crap, there is that doubt again... I meant before I run through all of you towards my championship!
Quoted from Whysnow:I saw a FBook post that some games are going to have pinstadium crap on them?
Is this true and will there be an option to turn them off for players that just see strobbing lights when this junk is used?
(sorry, not sorry ot be harsh but they look like dog crap and negatively impact playing experience for some)
Good to know. If you end up in my group I will DEFINITELY be wearing a set of Pin Stadium lights as earrings.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:Sketchers have really good sneakers with memory foam that I wore last year - I now wear them to all pinball events. Sit down often!
But on the other stuff...
Remember it’s the same for everybody
The replay Fx team do a freaking epic job to set this up
You’ll play games you’ve never seen or heard of before that work better than any game you’ve played,
The games are setup to be tough
You’ll suck at games you have smashed before, stay calm learn and play better
There is plenty of places to sit.
Drink lots of water
Say hello introduce yourself - we are all friends
Remember to say thanks to the guys and gals running the event - they do this for the love of it and in my view are all super heroes.
be self aware on how your conduct affects other players “saying oh no i’m Playing you can spoil it for the other player”
For the love of god have a shower and apply plenty of deodorant
Bring a hoodie; in the morning it can be cold
buy something from the vendors
Get a selfie with @papadoug and bkerins and anyone else
Remember to cheer and applaud great play,
It’s just a game, nobody will die, life goes on
Make sure you play your place !
Tilts are tight
But the most important part -> enjoy it
If you didn't read this post, go back and read it. For most of us, just go and have fun. Compete with people, but don't be wicked serious. It's pinball, and it's supposed to be fun!
Quoted from Rondogg:So, basically every game ever. Got it.
So many games I don't know. Yes, THIS is what I will blame my poor performance on.
Quoted from Black_Knight:A player may not intentionally cause a ball search in order to activate any feature of the game.
I always love when I see something like this, because I KNOW some butthole came up with that strategy and used it in a tournament.
Another newb question: Is each round against a different group of people? I’m assuming it is, but thought I’d ask.
(Disclaimer: some people are not that fun to play pinball with, so am I stuck with them, or are they gone in the next round.)
Quoted from sohchx:So how do pinsiders tell who's a fellow member, do you guys wear lanyards or something? I've been to RFX every year since it's inception and have never met another Pinsider outside of the ones that already recognize by face.
I'll be easy to recognize. I'm the middle aged guy with the expensive hobby...
Quoted from delt31:Couple of newbie questions:
1) Will all games be on free play Thursday? I'm not a tourney player - just want to play many titles and thinking of going Thursday
2) Anyone bringing a AFMLE or WH20 for sale b/c I will come with cash. Also have TnA for sale. FYI
This is in the Replay/FX area.

Plus eventually a lot of the Pinburgh games move to the public area. So it looks like there is plenty of Pinball to be had!
And there were a bunch more not in this picture, but I was getting hungry, so I left before snapping more.
So the lanyard lists 8-9am Thursday as “Pinburgh Machine Testing”. Is that the time we get to try out some games before the tournament? I realize I won’t know what machines I’ll be playing on. I just want to get a feel for how they are setup before starting.
Edit: Oh skip this. The Replay App says yes!! Granted, it’s play testing and finding issues. But yes.
Quoted from NicoVolta:Playing competitively requires a different perspective which has to be learned. Mindlessly flipping the ball around for fun doesn't win trophies.
That’s exactly why I’ll never be a great player. I’m ok for date night in the barrio, but not real competition pinball. And that’s fine for me. Next year I’ll try to make the finals of E, or may even (dare I say), the D division.
Overall, I’ve had a blast here. I met and played pinball with some awesome people. My experience was one of fun and good competition. I think I came in 757th, and I’ll take that. I’m glad nobody in my groups was too serious, because if you were playing against me, you weren’t doing very well, so you better at least be having a good time.
Quoted from westofrome:I also wonder if they can keep the open signup system if it sells out in even fewer than 40 seconds next time. Inevitably top players will miss out.
I wonder if they could do it like big tennis tournaments - say, top 500 get invites and the remaining slots are filled with open entries, maybe with a lottery system, since it’s not practical to hold a qualifying pre-tournament.
I go back and forth on this, but I agree a little. Like the top 10 from this year get tickets to next years. I’d be bummed if Keith couldn’t get in again, because he was amazing to watch.
But for the rest, fully open. I love the fact that I have as good a chance as any of you to get in next year. And I have as good a chance of clawing up to the D division after my horrific performance this year.
Sigh. My points went to the wrong person. I had written to them that they had my name under the wrong person, and they kept it there.
So how do I correct the fact that there are two people with my name?
Quoted from imharrow:It is surprising this still happened since we were required to submit our IFPA number with registration to correct exactly this problem. But email the IFPA and they will fix it.
I didn't have a number yet, so I was supposed to get added. This was my first "real" tournament. I'll write to them.
Quoted from DaveH:I didn't have a number yet, so I was supposed to get added. This was my first "real" tournament. I'll write to them.
And they already responded that they are straightening it out. Poof. Thanks Josh!
Quoted from epthegeek:It’s the first weekend of August in 2019. 1-4.
I'm already practicing... to refresh my browser over and over again...
