If you are playing in Pinburgh, I highly recommend sticking around for Saturday and Sunday. Assuming that you make finals on Saturday(that's 160 players), Saturday night and Sunday are your best times to enjoy the rest of the show. There are just a crazy amount of games there and you need the better part of a day just to see/play half of them!

As for hotels, since the Westin block has no Wednesday available, I decided to bite the big one and get that single night at the Courtyard across the street and the remainder of the nights at the Westin. The regular rate at the Courtyard is $259/night, but at least you can cancel. The freakin Westin you can get a room for the same price($259) but it is non-refundable. If you want a refundable night at Westin they want $311/night plus taxes.

    Quoted from chuckwurt:

are people booking rooms through Sunday night? When do people start leaving?

We stay until Monday morning, just because it is a 12 hour drive for us.

I received a really cool ReplayFX card in the mail today. Nice touch guys!

Looking over the list of bands, I am really hoping to find enough time away from the tourney to check out Mega Beardo and Bit Brigade. I checked them out on youtube and they both seem like top notch acts. Of course, who can resist Flashback with the man, the myth, the legend, Jon Replogle!

I'm a tourney player. But even if I was not, there's no way I could take in ReplayFX in one day. If your time is flexible, I would dedicate at least 2 full days for Replay. Also, and this is just a hunch, I would think less vendors would be set up and ready to go on Thursday AM than any other time. The PAPA games are all there from the beginning.

I tried this out last year and it was a lot of fun. I also quickly learned that the video game world also has their equivalents of Keith Elwin and Jorian Engelbrektsson. The list of games is already made public and you can try them out on MAME if you're so inclined. They are: Missile Command, Dig Dug, Time Pilot, StarGate, Centipede, Frogger, Space Zap, Gyruss, Crazy Climber, and Lady Bug.

There was talk after last years Pinburgh about the concrete floors taking their toll on everyone over the long tourney. Was any solution ever found to this? I know some people brought mats to stand on.

    I'm super excited, Ed!

    Quoted from TopMoose:

    My ReplayFX checklist:
    1. Play all the games. All of them.
    2. Meet Jack Danger.
    3. Meet Todd Tuckey.
    4. Meet lots of Pinsiders.
    5. Buy parts and mods and T-shirts.
    So excited.

#1 is impossible. Well, maybe possible if you're not playing in Pinburgh and force yourself to never play more than one game of any particular title.

    Quoted from PNorth:

Both sides?!! Last year was only one side and it was truly gigantic!

Yeah, Pinburgh is gonna be in the opposite hall this year, while the remainder of the show will be in the same hall as last year. Safe to say that last years show was profitable and things are just getting better!

This was posted on Tiltforums a while back by Mark S.

Crude Pinburgh floor layout can be found here. http://replayfx.org/wp-content/uploads/Pinburgh2016.jpg

This is a zoomed in view of the overall festival floorplan, specifically Hall B, which is the opposite side of the catwalk from where Pinburgh was located in 2015. This year, Pinburgh will have its own dedicated hall with adjusted lighting.

Purple rectangles represent games, with game #1 of each bank of four being numbered.

I played like a 5 year old girl in the tournament this year. Still had a great time. I didn't take nearly enough pictures but here were my best ones. Enjoy!

    Quoted from Frax:

Love how two people who don't know the first thing about me downvote me for saying I'd sandbag into B. Even more funny considering I've never attended Pinburgh, PAPA, or IFPA. Lawls. If you knew jack squat about me, you'd know that losing, in any manner, pisses me off to an extreme degree.

I didn't downvote you for saying you'd sandbag. I downvoted you for implying that you could just win B div if you wanted to. Look at the names, man. I know you are good. There are great A level players who failed to qualify for B division. I am a 3 time state champion and I failed to qualify for B division. Granted, I didn't play even close to my ability, but it happens. Given that you haven't played in a Pinburgh or PAPA, please don't assume you could win B division easily.
