The trip cost me near a grand last year after plane tickets and everything, but it was the best $1000 I have ever spent. So much fun and great people and great city even if the Pirates do play there
Ended up winning $250 in Pinburgh though so that helped.
You have to be there at 9am for Pinburgh I believe.
I recommend taking the bus from the airport. It does take about 45 minutes to get downtown, but it is super cheap and only drops you off a block or so from the Westin.
From the show floor layout posted on Facebook, it appears the show is twice as large this year......floor space wise.
Quoted from JoelOmatik:How many stops does the bus have before reaching the exit? And how easy/rough is the 1/3 mile walk to the venue from there? I'm trying to convince a friend, but he'd rather take the uber directly to the hotel.
The bus takes around 45 min from the Airport to down town with roughly half a dozen stops if I remember right. The walk to the convention center is pretty easy in the daylight but if it is after dark and you haven't been to Pitt before, Uber might be a better choice. I do know that a cab from the Airport to downtown is about $40.
Quoted from flynnibus:IMO they'd be better off with a huge projection overhead and focus just on the finals group vs multiple games concurrently.
This. It wouldn't be too hard to put a big sheet or screen up above the stage there with all of the rigging they have and rear project it or something. Even just the live stream up there would help with seeing the scores.
Watching the finals was a lot better than last year though with the simple inclusion of Bowen giving a review of the point tallies and what the scores were between balls. Great job by all of the crew, the show was incredible and even better than last year. I somehow managed to qualify for the A division and finish in the top 100. A lot of fun and getting to play with some of the big boys like Gagno and Bowden was super cool. I can't wait for next year.
