What is the trick to removing the coil to the Gtb score reels?
Usually one removes the coil stop to remove the coil. The coil stop nut and bolt just spin, locked together. Not only on this one unit, but on all of the units in the machine and a spare I have and one someone else has posted about here on PS.
The only way to get to the coil seems to be to bend the bracket holding the coil & plunger down.
I've taken the score reel completely apart. The brackets under the reel do not come apart sufficient to release the coil. Besides, it is inconceivable that Gtb would design a score reel so that you'd have to completely disassemble the whole thing just to replace a coil.
It is puzzling that the nut and the threaded piece it is on would both just spin on all known units. Maybe on one old unit, perhaps two. But all four of mine, my friend's, and another one mentioned on line? Inconceivable!!
What is the trick to removing a coil on these?
