I have replaced the rectifier board on my playboy(bally) pinball machine but I have a problem. The new board has an 8 pin male connector and a 7 pin female connector. I plugged the 7 pin into the 8 pin and blew two fuses. The place I bought this board says this is the direct replacement but I can find out what I need to do to make the 7 pin work with the 8 pins on the new board. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Did you plug it up correctly? Which spot is the key? Sounds like you plugged it in wrong and different voltages went to different items blowing the two fuses

The J1 plug on replacement rectifier boards has an extra pin to support games like future spa. Make sure you female connectors are keyed!

Luckily mixing up this connector seems to just blow a couple fuses in my experience ( i have done it ). Replace the fuses. Key the plug and try again.

Thanks for the quick replies. Since I am a newb. What exactly do you mean by keyed? Is there supposed to be a number on the female connector? Thanks again.

There should be a little plastic plug in one of the holes on the female connector, and a missing pin on the male header in the same place

I just did my rectifier board for my Paragon, and in the schematics, it should tell you which pins are for what. In Paragon, the last pin (furthest to the right) is listed as "spare." So this told me that it wasn't used for anything. I'm not familiar with Playboy, but I believe it came from the same era, and should have similar plugs. Check the schematics, and make sure that the "spare" pin is not used.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I had it moved over too far. I will check the schematics. Thanks a bunch. You guys are awesome!
