I am repairing a System 1 power supply. I have done all the updates specified in Pinwiki.com and Pinrepair.com including the grounding mods. However the +5V is measuring 2.4V. Notes on Pinrepair.com suggest the Q1 transistor needs to be replace. Suggested alternates for PMD12K40 include 2N6057 or 2N6059. A suggested alternate for 2N6059 is 2N8294. Is this the best choice for something I can order from Digikey?

Beware of buying from their "Marketplace" sources. Best off buying non-Marketplace on their website.

    I also have them:

But if you can get them shipped from within Canada then you'll be better off.

any reason besides price? I like Rochester Elec. and I noticed they have some stuff that shows up on digikey now through the marketplace item program.

Rochester is a very good source and has 'certificate of compliance' (CofC) available for everything - this means no counterfeits.

Only reason to watch Marketplace is you don't know where some of the Marketplace stuff is coming from - you could rack up a pretty good shipping charge if the item is shipping from a warehouse Malaysia (a LOT of Texas Instruments parts ship form there). Think of the shipping charges that are built up when ordering from places like RockAuto and to a lesser extent - NewEgg. If you can get a flat fee from Digikey then you should be OK.

Rochester Electronics won't work. Minimum order for 2N6284G is 63 pieces. That is about 60 too many.
