    Gang:

I am finally getting around to posting something that has been bothering me for ages.

Whenever I have to remove the round molex pins from a connector, it's always a complete pain in the arse. I have tried different tools, and none of them seem to work, so maybe it's a problem with the user.

Right now, I am using Molex tool 11-03-0006. I swear, that even holding the connector with pliers and giving it everything I've got - that it does not remove pins most of the time. I know this tool is designed for .093 size - I have its .062 and .084 sisters and they all produce the same miserable results.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

Push the removal tool onto the connector, but also push the connector up into the removal tool by shoving on the wire or shoving it up into the removal tool with a small screwdriver. Then slightly wiggle the removal tool around in a circle while pressing up on the connector. That will help make sure the tool bends down the little "wings" so that when you then press down on the removal tool the connector doesn't get hung up on the connector body. Once I started doing this 0.093 replacement got a LOT easier and quicker.

This is the key right here. Once or twice around and it pops free.

Just want to add to this post I had the same issue with the extractor tools. I now use a dental pick tool and simply slide it in and bend the little wing flat with the pin. Works every time. Once pin is out bend wing(s) back out for reuse.
