I have some mylar around the Jetson my IJ (Williams) machine, and I wanted to remove it.

From what I understand, older games are problematic because the paint can peel off, but with these 90s games, can it be pulled off with damaging anything?

And when I take it off, is there going to be tacky residue to remove?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

From my understanding, the older the machine, the harder it is. When i got my machine, my buddy also got a xenon. It was in rough shape so we started workinf to get mine going but he stripped his xenon playfield so he could remove the mylar and clear coat it and lets just say hes been looking for a new xenon pf haha

Safest method I know is to pick a corner up w fingernail, get some Goo Gone (citrus-based compound in the small bottle), wet the edge where you picked and slowly peel back 180 degrees (mylar folded back on itself) while continually wetting the exposed seam. The goo gone will release the glue as it comes in contact, resulting in minimal pull on the playfield surface. Might be overkill for a diamondplated game, but this is safest.

90s games Freezing method usually works well (holding a can of air duster upside down and shooting the mylar).
EDIT: This can leave the glue sotimes though and then you gotta goo gone it anyway.

The best episode of Intervention, that chick grabbing those cans of air.
