I need some quick advice if possible. Is there a known procedure to removing the backbox on a Data East Version 3 DMD game for loading in a small vehicle? According to the below photo there is a vertical bolt inside the bottom of the backbox on each side attaching it to the hinges. Or would it be more preferable to remove the hinges from the cabinet? I'd say removing the backbox from the hinges would be easier. What size ratchet/socket would be needed for the backbox/hinge bolts?

Personally I would not remove the back box. The screws in the bottom, once removed should allow for it to pivot down on top of the playfield. If you run a strap around it and remove the legs, they are straightforward to move with a dolly and load into a small suv even. I would recommend you find someone with a small SUV. I can’t imagine how you would get into a car. I have a Honda HRV and it will hold one with its seats down.

To actually remove the top would require unplugging all of the connectors that go from the boards to the playfield along with the ground. You would then need to unbolt the head which it was designed to tip and not to come off to transport. If you unplug the connectors, I would label each to the plug they go to our you will likely have issues putting back together.

The person buying my game doesn't have a tall enough vehicle to leave the head on in the folded down position. We will figure it out.
