I’m hoping there might be a good tip how best to remove those 15000 microfarad capacitors as in the wpc games. I recently replaced the rectifier BR2 and capacitor C5 on TAF to correct resetting (which seemed to do the trick), but getting that capacitor off was a bear. The legs are too thick to get my desoldering tip over them, I can’t clip them off because they’re so close to the pcb, and they seem to be real heat sinks. I held my soldering iron on the soldered joints way longer than I feel comfortable with and still I was hardly able to melt the solder.

How does everybody else do this?

I could see that working - apply heat at both leads simultaneously and hopefully let gravity do the rest. I guess if the capacitor is sucking up lots of heat, damage to other parts of the board isn’t too likely. Thanks for the tips!
