So my mousin around has a playfield protector of some sort over the main play area. There are bubbles over a couple inserts, which makes me want to remove it. But there is also an area of some slight planking, and I fear that I'll take the artwork off if I try to remove it. I'm leaning towards leaving it on, and just ignoring the bubbles. Does this seem like the best option?

Leave it. Removing Mylar on system 11 games is a last resort.

If you remove it, you have to clearcoat it.

Leave it protecting the playfield.

You'll be sorrrrrrrry!

Ok, sounds like I should leave it, so this is what I will do. Thank you for the advice!

Can the air bubbles be removed? Like using a syringe to pop them/inject glue? Anything like that?

If they reallly bother you, yes. Refer to the Vids guide on playfield repair. I believe there was a thread on how to inject clear with a syringe.

Thought I'd be the minority here, but I leave mine. I like the extra protection. I use polishing compound (the green turtle wax container) and follow with wax. It shines the Mylar up pretty well (not mirror perfect, but pretty good).

Seems like you're not the minority at all. Majority is saying, if it ain't broke, don't break it.

You can clean the darkened edges of the mylar with naptha, a paper towel, and running the paper towel along the edge with your fingernail.
