Just put the brackets on TSPP and SW Premium. The TSPP was starting to split on the plunger side, so I am glad to have caught this. The SWP might have been overkill as it already has the top corner reinforcements.

Mine came with the sh!tty ones. I replaced them with the Williams brackets.

The plunger corner on my TSPP has minor separation. Put the leg plates on.

You really only need to do the front corners.

The rear of the cabinet has a lot more material and is less prone to splitting.

    Go ahead and do them.

He sounds like a reasonable kind of guy. Does he prefer people go through their distributors first before calling directly or is okay with being the contact?

Put the brackets on and sleep better.

I only did the fronts on my machines, TSPP and Star Wars Prem, and did notice a small gap where stated. It closed up nice and tight when the screws were installed. I tightened up the leg bolts first.
