I was finishing a playfield restoration on a Gottlieb Buccaneer ('76) and realized I was missing 'new' white lane guides from my parts inventory and did not have enough time or cost effective to order from PBR as I was delivering the game on the weekend.
I decided to try and paint the existing 'yellowed' white guides from the game. I cleaned them first with Mean Greeen and then applied/rubbed Magic Eraser to them until I achieved an overall dull finish so the paint had something to bite to - probably equivalent to 2500 grit sand paper.
I then designed a simple template using a piece of 2X4 and nails so the guides were resting elevated on the nails. The first night I applied 2 light coats of KRYLON Gloss White followed by 2 more light coats the following night. I turned them over on the third night and applied a light coat to the underside along with some very minor touchups.
I was very pleased with the outcome. Pics attached.
