Here are some 3D pics and links to Lytro refocusable images of Dutch Pinball's The Big Lebowski Pinball.
The entire refocusable Lytro Image catalog can be found here: https://pictures.lytro.com/pinsane/albums/166155

The following pictures are Cross-Eyed stereo pairs. Stare at the images and cross your eyes until the dots at the bottom merge. You'll then see three dots and three images, the center of which will be 3D. The individual Lytro refocusable image can be found at the link above each picture. You can refocus these images by clicking on the area you want to be in focus.

Dutch Pinball knocked it out of the park on this one!

Quoted from pinball4ever:

Great pics! I played the game and didn't even notice the bowling ball return on the ramp in pic 6 (as there was so much to take in). Just an awesome game!

Did you notice the ball return even has a hand dryer! (see pic 11)

Quoted from Aurich:

Steve those Lytro pics are awesome, pinball makes a great subject for the variable focusing trick. When did you take those?

When I first started experimenting with the camera, I of course did a bunch of pinball shots. They ended up on Lytro's curated gallery for a couple of weeks! I've since done some more and will be dribbling them out over time. I will say that the old school art looks much better when shot in macro than the newer style photoshop-style art.

I looked at the EXIF data and realized that I have to reset the time on my Camera--must have gotten screwed up because I set the time first and the time zone second? At any rate, these shots were taken between 2:30AM-3:30AM towards the end of the Saturday party. Scott Danesi was gracious enough to take off the glass and help me manage the light from the backbox. All of the Dutch Pinball guys were terrific hosts!

Quoted from bangerjay:

Sorry again for harassing you while you were taking these, they look awesome!

I don't remember being harassed at all Jay. Was glad to see you in fact!

Quoted from zaza:

Wow, Great pictures with real good depth!
I used to draw such pictures during school, lets see..

Woah zaza, Nice work! Coincidentally I used to do the same thing! Back in 2004 I sent out handmade backlit 3D lenticular freeplay cards for Christmas Presents

Zaza, That was very nice work you did on making the Lebowsky translite 3-D!

Aurich,
I laughed out loud, which I rarely do when reading Pinside!

ZaZa--that's impressive. What's your toolchain/workflow to build that effect? (It looks like there's a bit of a depth error near the stomach, but fine work nonetheless!)

ZaZa,
I can believe that the TBL translight was done that way, but because the scissors are at an angle I suspect you started with a 3D scissor image, no?

I asked because the way I did the lenticular cards was by building a 3D model of the scene using the original artwork, and then displacing the virtual camera to get 18 different perspectives of the scene. If I tried to do it by hand, I would never have been able to get the arms to realistically foreshorten. For things borrowed from pinball art, I tried to make it so that the center image was pixel accurate with the original scene. Whew! Glad I've moved on from doing those projects!

Sorry about the headaches guys.

Quoted from gweempose:

I can't get my eyes to see the 3D images. I've never had a problem with 3D stereograms like in the Magic Eye books, but this seems like it requires the opposite technique. Instead of focusing beyond the image, you actually have to focus in front of it.

There are two ways to present these kind of images--the magic eye way (parallel viewing) and the cross-eyed method. I personally find the cross-eyed method the easiest, but it looks like gweempose prefers the parallel method. Here's some using the parallel method, gweempose, let me know if this works better for you:

A trick I use to view parallel 3D pictures (or magic eye images) is to try to focus on my reflection in the monitor...
