We are always looking for a good weekend movie to stream and it seems to take us 15 mins before we can settle on something to watch.
What movies have you watched lately that are worth recommending?

We just watched Black Phone on Amazon Prime and enjoyed it

Nothing modern is worth a damn. Go back in time and pick a classic you haven't seen yet.

I thought Emily the Criminal on Netflix was good

If you have never watched Star Trek, The Next Generation I'd recommend season 6, episode 15 (Tapestry) and season 2, episode 9 (the measure of a man) if you have paramount plus as thought provoking episodes where you do not have to know the characters to really get alot out of them. They are not "pew pew pew" episodes.

Funny enough, there's a pretty good 1970s crime movie called The Outfit. Robert Duvall flips a Gottlieb Spin a Card in one scene.

Bullet Train was pretty good. A bit on the goofy and silly side with over the top violence, but entertaining. Brad Pitt was good as always.

Ambulance, the Bear on Hulu, The last of us

Sicario is a great flick you might like. It is by Taylor Sheridan of Yellowstone fame.

A River Runs Through It (although it could be a stream).

I just watched The Banshees of Inisherin and really liked it (on HBO). Definitely not for everyone though. Reservoir Dogs is on Netflix currently. 1-3 John Wicks are on HBO too right now.

CODA. Maybe not your cup of tea but I really enjoyed it and so did the wife.

The queens gambit is awesome too but it is a mini series

I as well thought it was quite good. Not often war films are made from the perspective of the former enemy.

Cross of Iron, comes to mind.

Cool, I didn’t realize M3gan can be streamed. Price is a bit high for me right now, if it comes down a bit I’d like to see it.

This is seriously the only good movie I’ve seen in a couple years. It’s shocking how everything has shifted to series based programming.

Edit to add: “Nobody” was another movie I really enjoyed.

Just got done watching Midsommer. Was an interesting take on Swedish traditions and the quality of life for members who live off the grid. I found it fascinating.

The depiction of hallucinogens on the hill was ridiculously accurate .. according to a friend of mine.

If you liked Midsommar, Hereditary might be up your alley.

Has anyone see the movie Violent Night? Just wondering if it's good and worth checking out. Trailers looked good but I don't know anyone that's seen it yet.

My family actually found it to be pretty entertaining. But if you're looking for a Christmas movie along the lines of Elf or Home Alone, this may not be the one

You People on Netflix was worth a watch-some laugh out loud moments

I liked seeing Eddie Murphy back in his element-reminded me of some of his classic stuff

My wife and I have been on a Gerard Butler movie bonanza kick. His movies are full of suspense and action. Search Gerard Butler movies-a few I liked were Olympus has Fallen, London has Fallen, and Gods of Egypt was entertaining(love the Mummy franchise).

If you have HBO Max my favorite episode of South Park is Season 9 episode 5, "the losing edge" and can be watched with no prior knowledge of the show. It's about kids little league baseball.

Also recently watched deliverence for the first time. It's on Netflix and worth at least one watch.

On Peacock, very entertaining
