Quoted from Dr_Gonzo:The popularity of this forum has hurt pinball more than it's helped.
I hate to say it but I have to agree.
Pinside has become the venue of choice for pinball predators. They take advantage of those who come here expecting to be treated fairly by fellow enthusiasts. They overpay for their games, spend more to add expensive mods, and then expect to re-coop that cost when it's time to sell thereby creating a spiraling price bubble.
The increasing cost of machines is already a barrier to entry for many and the cause for others to leave the hobby prematurely. It results in an unhealthy atmosphere focused more on prices then the hobby itself. Just look at threads, there's a lot of anger and frustration out there and that isn't good for our hobby.
