Using the IJ altsound soundset on a stock 1.29 installation.

Here's the log when I press the start button in attract mode.

Why would it play these random sound effects ?

And why does the background music stop ?

See attached config.

Is anyone using this with a Raspberry Pi 0 wireless? That would be my preference since I have one here I can use. If it doesn’t work well I can get a 3B+

Except the longer boot time, it should work.

I ended up using a 3 A+ since it has the faster quad core processor. Having issues with the base image though. I can get to a screen where it hangs asking for a login. This is the 1.25 put on a fresh 16gb card. For the moment just powering up on a wall adapter until it is setup on Wifi with SSH access. Any tricks to get past this?

On the console this is normal. You configure it through the webpage. See https://tiltaudio.com/

Thank You! I thought I would have to manually get it configured and setup on my Wifi ahead of time and that is why I had it powered up connected to an HDMI display and keyboard. Just went back and followed the steps on the site to connect to it directly as a hotspot and that worked.

Now I need to apply the updates and figure out how to load the sounds, etc.

Hello tilt users.
I'm using a Tilt audio 2.6a with RPI3B+ on Last action hero
I get no sound while playing, it's because i use a scrambled pack.
I don't find others pack for Last action Hero(i got one original and on remastered on pinsound website).
Can someone help me to find an unscrambled pack or explain how to descramble it myself ?
For testing i tried Lethal weapon and tales from the crypt pack( from pinsound too) and it work

Hey all I received my 2.6a few weeks back. Its data east with external power. Can you send a picture of the board as I'm unaware exactly where everything solders on.

Is this correct?

Thanks

But I think some parts are missing, like 2 SMD ICs and the 5V DC-DC converter.

I think those extra parts are needed for a Williams machine. Also I think that 5VDC converter is needed if you only put 12V to the board. If you are using the Data east power plug that should have 5V already on it so you probably don't need that 5VDC converter. If you add that then you should disconnect the 5V line from the power harness.

Update: Got it all soldered, got the webui working and connected to WIFI, it plays the uploaded mix through the test feature all okay. When i try to start a game no sounds are triggered. Could it be because i'm missing U2 and U3 SMD IC's as lucky1 mentioned.

This is for data east wwf royal rumble custom pinsound mix
board 2.6a on 1.28 update

Without U2 it will not work. U3 and U4 are only needed for WPC.

Quoted from dmeca12:

Update: Got it all soldered, got the webui working and connected to WIFI, it plays the uploaded mix through the test feature all okay. When i try to start a game no sounds are triggered. Could it be because i'm missing U2 and U3 SMD IC's as lucky1 mentioned.
This is for data east wwf royal rumble custom pinsound mix
board 2.6a on 1.28 update[quoted image]

Looks like you need C1 as well good luck !!! Be good to know how well this works on a Data East.

Works fine on DE. I have it in Frankenstein.

Thanks guys will order them today, and report back when I've got them soldered and have tested it again.

So after ordering the wrong chip im struggling to find the exact correct chip I need.

74LCX374 is what it says on the board, but there's so many different ones. SOIC-20_300MIL 74LCX374 is what Steve had put in the description on easyeda.

Anyone have a link to the exact one I need?

Thanks

You already have a 74LVX00 installed, so I would take one from the same series.

If you also add this, WPC should also work

So I finally got around to ordering some Tilt!Audio boards. Is says version 2.6a in the gerber files, but it is at least 2.6b, since there is now resistor limiter on the input side. Have heard about revision 2.6d? This is from the current public version hosted on Steve's EasyEDAsite. Any ideas? And yes, this will works just fine(I hope, components inbound in plenty

Be interesting to know if the resistor arrays fix the random playing sounds for WPC

If you have that problem, could you please check which 74x00 and 74x138 is on your board ? LVX / LCX /LVC ?

Hi Lucky,

I have LCX in U2, LCX in U3 and LVX in U4. I have a rev 2.5d board and am trying to run it on WPC games. I've always had the problem with incorrect sounds being played. All sounds play fine direct from the web interface.

U3 is the 74xx138 and U4 the 74xx00
I found out that having different types in U3 and U4 can lead to such problems. Seems to be a timing issue.
Changing the U4 74LVX00 to LCX should fix it. Both are SOP/SOIC. TSSOP won´t fit.

Thanks for the update Lucky. I've found a local source for them so I'll get one and try it out. Is there any merit in trying to retrofit the pullup/down resistor arrays to the 2.5d board? If so, could you tell me what value they are and I'll order them as well.

nettek If you succeed with the resistors, could you please tell us about the result ?
I am having the same issues with wrong sounds playing.

lucky1 you and me had a session about this and you helped me by resoldering the SMD components.
I have tried both the altsound set and the other ones in Funhouse.
Sounds are missing /or non-existent sounds triggered) according to the logs, and wrong sounds are sometimes played.

That one is the wrong size, it's in the listing as a TTSOP. You need an SOIC size.

Ok thanks,
I was just looking for one here in the states

Another reason for wrong sounds beeing played I personally experienced, was a defective PI, so that could also be a reason.
If you not already have updated to the latest tiltaudio version this is also a good thing to do.

Got my board populated everything works.... Exepct for the amps. They are very noisy, gets hot but do play the propper pin audio.
It's works just fine using the direct jack. I measure 12v on the test point, so that should be ok.

Any ideas?

Read through a few pages here. Is it fair to say that tilt!audio is all still work in progress? From what I have seen this is not compatible with the pinsound files that people have developed, correct? Sorry for the questions just trying to figure out if this is a good fit for me right now. Thanks.

Nothing to do with the amps but for interest what WPC machine are you running this on ?

TILT!Audio (formerly known under a different name) is around for more than 3 years now. The main supported audio format is altsound that is used in the vpin sound community, you can find almost everything that is available for ps also for TILT!Audio. If you are looking for something special, just reach out to me.

I have tried both the altsound set and the other ones in Funhouse.

I have a FH myself and actually bought the commercial soundset from the french guys, because I really liked it. TILT!Audio works flawlessly with FH and also this sound pack. see it in action here:

There are more videos of FH with tests even on older boards on my youtube channel.

At the moment all parts for kits are in stock, shipping to the US typically takes 2-3 weeks. Was more in the recent days, I guess because of the election and the heavy workload for US postal services.

Today there is even a black friday sale with 10% off when you use the bf2020 discount code.

I just ordered a kit, though the discount didn't work (too many uses apparently). The website crashed after the paypal payment so I didn't get a confirmation but the payment seems to have gone through. Can you confirm my order?

steve45 good for you that it works in your Funhouse !

It doesn't in mine, unfortunately.

Tests and logging in IJ also shows missing sounds (both altsound and pinsound).

No one seems to be able to tell whether the added pull-up resistors on the newer boards help with these issues.

A changelog between versions would be nice to have and perhaps make people trust the project more.

I can not believe I am still looking at this, I must be mad I spent hours with random sounds on my Getaway, gave up in the end and bought a Pinsound. However the resistors and the LCX IC issues have grabbed my attention and I still have a Funhouse so I will watch the progress with interest. Will wait though I think before ordering the latest board.

Besides EasyEDA, is there a BOM file available somewhere? because when I ordered on their website, half of the components did not agree.

what board rev do you use? what smd chips are exactly applied. I will work on the changelog of the firmware these days, but the basic sound command handling for wpc never really changed. latest improvements were all about Whitestar.

Also the latest termination resistors networks reduce noise on the data bus, but where never really the root cause of the wpc problems. these are really caused by the different smd series. so you could give it a try also with the old board and just replacing one and chip.

maybe I do a live video experiment and put the latest board into my funhouse for testing

you cannot order the pcb WITH components from easyeda / jcsc there are couple of china module used that they don't offer. that's why there is no BOM.
