In the past, I've taken a small piece of 800-1000 grit sand paper rolled into a small tube and work it back and forth in the coil opening a little bit to open the hole slightly. Then buff with a small rag and clean with a light wax job to make it slick. It's worked good in the past. I'm not sure if there's a downside, but I never had a problem with it.
