Rebound Rubber (resized).jpg
#1 5 years ago

Hi all, I recently purchased a new rubber ring set for my 1976 Gottlieb Surfer and replaced everything except the brown rebound rubber (see photo). The existing rubber is held in with a rivet and I don't know how this is accomplished. Not wanting to damage anything, I've left the original. Suggestions greatly appreciated! Thank you!

CAREFULLY cut the old one off with a box cutter.

The new rubber will be soft, so lube it up with some spit, and push it on.

Hold the new rebound rubber in hot water. It will get even more flexible. You should be able to push it on, over that shiny post, easily.

All these cool tricks! I just rip it off and then push the new one on through sheer force of will

Im not joking, you will probably have to saw the old one off with a box cutter.

That old rubber can be crazy tough.
