Quoted from HeighwayPinball:To confirm, this is not a prank.
This is a situation that is happening now.
There are big plans, and a big budget, to take Alien - and the company - to where they need to be.
Everyone at the company is committed to delivering games to customers as quickly as possible.
We apologise for the lack of communications, customer service and technical support over the last few weeks and months. The company will aim to improve in all areas, moving forwards.
weeks and months? You mean years. I see the communication has already improved by such a poor delivery of this news..
Lets recap:
-No press release
-No website with a faq
-Ex owner has to validate this announcement isnt a prank
-New investors asking audio engineer to make posts for them
-Ownership transfer deal isnt done yet
I havent been to the UK before so maybe they don't work weekends. All I know is i put 45 hours in last week mon-fri and worked Saturday 6 hours and Sunday 8 hours. You say they bust their ass but then a saturday hits and everything closes.
Not only do they have to worry about refunds but if parts need to be ordered they'll be more expensive than they were a year ago. That will increase BOM which will force msrp to increase.
I think with the right people and right amount of money they can get things turned around but there is no evidence the right people are involved.
The incentive you get to not request a refund is a threat of a price increase. Nice!
People will be able to buy an Alien on the secondary market for the initial price or less if/when they get mass produced. What they should be doing is mentioning the price increase but also offer an incentive like free shipping to close the deal.
Quoted from Astropin:What they should do is build games and refund money.
I'd say all the prepaid money is gone. They'd be refunding money out of the same pot they're buying parts from. It makes sense to conserve as much of it as possible even if they lose money building the prepaid games.
Aurich, You're going to be biased because the success of Heighway will result in you obtaining the Alien LE you were promised.
The reality is that they have no production line currently. They would of been better saying they'll need another 30-60 days and start building some games. Once folks who requested a refund actually see them produce something they might want to stay in. Currently its all chat and bs.
I'd rather get a refund at $6500 and buy into it at $7500 if and when the games start shipping. There is still a significant risk of the company failing and I don't see a threat of a price increase as an incentive to stay in.
Quoted from Aurich:So ask for a refund. Everyone needs to make their own call. I hope prices aren't going up a grand though!
The higher the prices are, the more equity in the game you're owed. Don't be silly..
Quoted from Mr68:I get the anger towards Hilton but there was another Pinsider that was relentless with his fanboy spamming for Heighway. He's a very clever writer when it comes to excuses but I don't understand his being able to skate on all of this without an apology.
That's all I intend to say on the subject.
I know people who paid in full for this game years ago who hardly ever get on pinside. The bottom line is that some pinsiders who are Pro a company that fails have no responsibility as a pinsider who are Con a company which succeeds. People here just give their opinions and its up to the individual to either let that influence them or not.
