    From JJ:

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

As Most of you have seen by now Stern Pinball Inc. Has announced its latest game X-MEN! I have attached a Few pictures to this email but here is the Quick and Dirty of it.

This pinball will come in 3 Versions, 2 LE and 1 Pro Version.
The 2 Limited Versions will be Good - Wolverine(Blue Trim) and Evil - Magneto(Red Trim)

LE Versions Will Feature a Real Glass Mirrored back glass where the Pro will have a Standard trans light back glass.

    From Stern's Anouncement:
"Our X-Men Pinball is based on the Comic Books, which have a tremendous
fan and collector following. The theme and art lend themselves to
Pinball. The art on our X-Men pinball is fantastic, bright, different
than any recent games. This game has a lot of mechanical action, with
    great devices, magnets, etc.

We will make X-Men in 3 versions: 300 Wolverine numbered Limited
Editions, 250 Magneto numbered Limited Editions, and a Pro model.

I am attaching photos of the 2 Limited Edition models and the Pro, along
with a Features Chart. High res pictures are available at
    http://www.sternpinball.com/XMen/XMenPinballPhotos.zip

The game photos show the right side of each game, there being some
different art and characters on the left side. X-Men Wolverine LE has
blue trim; X-Men Magneto LE has red trim.

There are 3 playfield pictures. One is the Pro playfield. Two pictures
are of the LE playfield; one has the right ramp in its normal position,
and one is showing the movement of the right ramp.

X-Men Limited Edition production will begin at the end of June. Pro
production will begin at the beginning of August, timed to reach our
export markets as the September selling season begins. "

    The Magneto one looks good

The Plastic figures are too big. I just think it will take away from the game. If you want to start comparing to WOZ my opinion WOZ looks to be better game.

I think they look bad ass. I love how busy the pf is compared to previous releases. Lots to shoot for and appears to have a good amount of inserts.

I downloaded the high rez pix and blew them up real big. The toys are not great looking. Magneto is better and may look ok with a new paint job. Wolverine...not so good. The moving ramp doesn't bother me. I still wanna play the game. Who's gettin' one in North Jersey??

    #6 11 years ago

I still have my order, will sleep on it, read all the bashing, and then make my decision by Saturday.

    #8 11 years ago

    prices?

    #9 11 years ago

Looks good to me! Funny how their is always something people hate on!

    #10 11 years ago

    Here's my layout breakdown:

    GAMBIT: represents pop bumpers sweet!
    BEAST: represents left orbit.
    WOLVERINE: bash toy w magnet
PROFESSOR X: represents left ramp I think
NIGHTCRAWLER: gem like shot plus pop up targets
    ROGUE: shot left of magneto
MAGNETO: ball lock plus spinning disk and magnet
    CYCLOPS: inner right loop
ICEMAN: right ramp. Love that Borg incorporated the moving ramp to iceman, fits perfect!
    PHOENIX: right orbit
5 additional mutant inserts: Sabertooth, Shadow king, Juggernaut, sentinels, Omega red
    CEREBRAL: shoot again

That's 16-17 mutants that I see. Plus the scoop which I can't make out. This game is packed!

Check with your supplier...don't go by Stern's list prices.....

Looks great to me. Glad I got in early. Wolverine LE No. 003 will be headed to Louisiana and will be sitting right next to Tron.

    #13 11 years ago

Looks a little cluttered...then again IM was too sparce so maybe in person it will be just right.

    #14 11 years ago

looks fun but I'm not sure that the LE looks to be worth the money. I hope it's at Nw pinball show. But for some reason I doubt it.

Really dislike the WOZ theme, but I have to agree with your assessment regarding "looks to be". Actual gameplay may be the opposite.

Magneto toy looks freakin sweet. Wolverine on the other hand; hope it's better in person.

    #17 11 years ago

Damn those toys are huge, like cabbage patch dolls lol.

    Looks new & slick though.

What a great time to be into pinball. loving it. say what u want to about acdc/woz/xmen. I love there being new pins out there and i love the debates about the pins. having a 2 yr old and a new baby girl I have to live through the guys who are getting NIB sterns and JJPs. My time will come, but its a great time for pinball none the less.

Xmen looks sweet. will that right return ramp swivel, like acdc cannon?

    #20 11 years ago

This game looks awesome! and finally a great art package to compliment the recent stellar gameplay! Wish I had cash for a NIB, I would be seriously considering one.

Wolverine LE backglass has better detail and art rendition is well done by Jim Lee.

    #24 11 years ago

This is one case where I think the LE's aren't the coolest in town. That Pro art is way more what I would want out of an X-Men game than what is on the Pro's. It's all about everybody exploding off the art and being represented.

I agree about the figures. Look weird. Can't wait to check one out and give it a spin.

Luckily I don't play the cabinet, I play the playfield, people are too hung up on artwork. They all look cool in their own sense, worry about the actual pinball and play. I for one think they all look great, I'd be happy with any of them. But the LEs being mirrored is going to make them much cooler than they appear in any picture, guaranteed.

    #26 11 years ago

I agree, I didn't really care how the art looked as long as it wasn't straight hideous. The playfield layout, toys and rules are what I care for.

The mirroring on the wolvie blades will be very cool ! I just think the detail and effect will be better on this one.

I'm with you, X-men LE Wolverine #4 is mine. I am in like Flynn

My criticism of the X-Men art choices in a thread about the X-Men art choices is not focused on the important topic of the thread...this thread...a thread about the X-Men art choices?

    Got it!

Gameplay/design is the most important aspect to me as well, but gimme a break. The visuals are all we have to discuss...so I'm tossing 2 cents on the visuals.

    #31 11 years ago

what about the sound and music package? is a big unknown.

I am on the fence about the pro.
