Quoted from MegaFeenix:

One thing that is frustrating about this hobby is how a male audience is targeted seemingly alone. The elephant in the room being that’s who is buying and supporting pinball by a large majority. My thought is I would love a Sailor Moon, Ru Paul’s Drag Race, or a Golden Girls pin. Barbi would make a good pin next to that newer Hotwheels one. What are your thoughts pinside? ... Wonder Woman!
Addendum:
This post was never meant to be an indictment of the pinball industry. Although it is interesting that people jump right to that one way or the other. I’m more interested in what I.P. or themes you want that are considered “girly” so are not touched or you think could bring success and potential growth in pinball. General themes are pretty much gender neutral, even Houdini with a male lead I feel is “straight down the middle” but maybe others feel differently.

I’m late to this party, so my apologies if any of this has been said.

Don’t underestimate the role of demand. There are too many undeniable facts to just blame “old white men”

Given the financial means, most men would gladly drop a pinball machine in any room in their house. Even guys who barely think about pinball. The vast majority of women would kill to not let one through their doors.

Most men hate female oriented themes (the reverse is also true, no doubt). For gods sakes, half the guys on pinside 8 yrs ago acted like their dicks would fall off if they played WOZ. Why would manufacturers risk alienating the bulk of pinball fans? Right or wrong, this is economic reality.

I was going to make a long list, but these two factors really sum it up. Some of the theme suggestions above sound great, and I’d love to see or play them, but I can’t imagine a company risking their future on them.

Quoted from Reality_Studio:

Thing is, the most vocal people on forums and/or purists often have little to do with market realities. To use a cargument, let's look at the Porsche Cayenne. Anyone remember how purists reacted when Porsche announced that vehicle many years ago? There was a meltdown on forums and purists thought it was the end of Porsche. How dare they not stick to pure sports cars, after all that's the only thing Porsche buyers want right? Fast forward a bit and not only did it become their best selling vehicle (I believe now surpassed by the Macan) but it also dramatically attracted females to the Porsche brand. Sometimes you really need to ignore the purists and instead look for markets that are not being targeted.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, it just involves a huge gamble. Kudos to Porsche for taking such a risk. I would argue that a decent portion of the success is due to the fact that a lot of guys get to buy their Porsche and their wife’s cave because they’ve lost the impracticality argument. Regardless, still a coup.

In my real life I work in the licensing/comic industry. I make sure at least 30-40% of our product is geared toward female fans and customers. This is much more common now than when we started 16 yrs ago. I won’t name names, but when we started with one famous licensor we featured a very popular female character on our first item for the licensor. A female executive found out and expressed her concern over us using a “girl superhero”. The stupidity is unreal.

I just don’t think this is the cause of the issue with pinball. A good portion of women could care less and a bigger portion actively dislike it.

Out of all of suggestions made, in my opinion Wonder Woman and Friends are the only viable ones.
