I saw it a few nights ago; I didn't have high expectations and had not read the book so I was pretty open to whatever they presented.

Aside from the retro references, the structure of the movie was the most retro I had seen in a while. Almost like a scooby doo episode. I was waiting for the main villain to chime in at the end "... and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you kids" .

I haven't seen a love and team building story skip over so much "stuff" in forever. I guess we have met for 5 minutes, so we are in love? And the team just sort fell together "just because" yet they were super tight with each other after a day or two? And luckily they were all in the same geographic area

And the action was just chaos... awesome chaos but still

I enjoyed it as entertainment at its most base form. It was not a great film, but it was an enjoyable movie. I am not sure if it would get better or worse with multiple viewings. Is it a guilty pleasure that you notice more with every watch?

I don't know, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

I think RPO has a decent chance of becoming a future cult classic, a "so bad its good / guilty pleasure" sort of movie.

The plot is about as deep as a scooby-doo episode (complete with cartoon villain and dastardly kids ) and it has decent enough visuals you can just kick back and watch an advert for your various fandoms. Heck, there is even a RFM machine at the end for the pinball nerds like us (as noted repeatedly in this thread).
