Back in the Early 2000s I was quite into touring car racing. I ran the early Associated TC3s. I ran a lot down in Huntington Beach. I went to a track a few months ago to check out the race scene and decided I didn’t have the time in my old age to get into that again.

Quoted from orangegsx:

Threw together a slash for oval racing. Won a heat my first time out! Never raced on dirt before and did not expect oval to be this much fun.

Dirt Oval racing is very under rated. I had a lot of fun as a kid bashing RC-10s around the oval. Its nice to see it has not died out.

I’m a child of the 80s, and one of the things I got into as a teenager was RC car racing. I did it off and on for until the early 2000s when I got married and life happened, and stopped racing and sold my gear.

About a year ago we moved to a town that has an indoor clay off-road track that hosts 1/10 scale races twice a week. I started racing again in December of last year and am currently fielding a TLR 22-5 in two wheel sportsman 17.5 stock, and an associated B74.2 in 4 wheel sportsman 13.5 stock.

Over the weekend my track hosted the regional Jimmy Babcock Racing League series and for the first time in 20 years I participated in a big race. There were close to 200 entries running in 24 heats. I ran 2 wheel Rookie class and finished 7th out of 16 in the field. It overall was a fun Saturday of racing.
