I bought a cheap Foxx S911 from gearbest about 2 years ago. It's good for throwing around on the street but I'm not into any course racing or anything like that.

#4 5 years ago

I like me some RC. FYI, title change may be needed.

Not sure why someone linked No Fear to this thread.

I was HUGE into RC back in the late 80s into the 2000s. Started off with a Tamiya Pajero, then went 4wd and a Yokomo (I think that's what it was) eventually found my way back to 2wd and got an Associated RC-10, spent THOUSANDS tricking it up and running it for years. Finally sold it around 2003. Totally regret that. Miss that hobby but replaced it with something called Pinball. Sadly no pictures remain of my old RCs.

If you Had a good time with it in the past you should take a look at some of the cars of today 65-70 mph Out of the box and the prices between $500 to $1000 for really good equipment .

Oh I know, they are SICK, and most with waterproof electronics. I got my kids some Traxxas RTR trucks back in 2010ish, took one of them and dropped in the kiddie pool and drove it around fully submerged. Had to wrap my old stuff in balloons and silicone to get someone water resistant!

I used to do a lot of 1/18th scale racing back in the day. Had some sponsors and won a few big races. 1/18th started losing popularity and soon there was no where to race them so I got out of the hobby.

Edit - found one of my early trophy race wins from 2007

I forgot to mention that my first "real" RC car was the Takara Tomy GX buggy. Fast little guy lol. Forgot about that thing. My then girlfriend (now wife) bought it for me but they're now NLA. I might still have it lying around somewhere but I don't think the internal battery holds a charge anymore.

Here's an awesomely bad video of it lol

Had a sprint car with a weed eater motor in it for awhile. That thing was a crowd pleaser! did have a funny mishap once. I was running it at a park on a motocross bike track when friend that with me pointed over to the horizon about a block away at some guys that were waving. We went back playin and after a few minutes we noticed that a crowd was rapidly headed our way yelling and waving arms. Turns out there was an RC park and track there on the other side of the park and they had some kind of championship races going on. My frequency was the same as one of the guys there that was in the lead! The incident wiped out most the race. Oops Oh Oh! Needless to say due to the tempers of the racers we quickly exited stage left....

I think she got it for around $50 at the time but this was probably 9-10 years ago.

This is my collection. My first was a Tamiya Blackfoot. Sadly, it's gone. Pinball, R/C, and Slot Cars are the main hobbies here. Along with some others that fade in and out.

Man, haven't touched my RC's in a WHILE but my buddy and I each have a Traxxas Slash, a Summit and an XMAXX.

Here's some pix of Summit fun:

My "new/used" Summit (red) and his pre custom Summit (blue).

Heck yeah ! Have a 1/10th Tamiya 05 Rally WRX set up for drifting and a Carisa 1/10th custom DTM road car.

Would love to get a 1/5th scale truck, but we'll see once my son's are older if interested. Check out this video below of 1/5th trucks racing. Looks like a blast ( don't think there is offensive language)

Yeah, I think it'll take 8S lipo stock but I've only tried 6S and it was plenty fast.

I have a good collection of RC's too!

Arrma Kraton and Senton
Tekno MT410
Traxxas TRX-4
Nitro Circus Monster truck and stadium truck (also have the mini MT)
A couple of carpet racers as well.
A couple mini quads and a Wizard 220

I guess when I get into it I get into it.

Only one pin at the moment though...

#38 5 years ago

I was big into R/C cars in the ‘80s. The Grasshopper, Hornet and Optima Mid. Had them all. I run a Tamiya Dual Ridge for kicks from time to time. Here’s a stock photo. I upgraded the motor so it runs pretty fast.

I found that as an unbuilt kit on eBay a few years ago. Had a pro paint it. Never been run.

I can post pictures later. I went on a vintage rc binge a few years ago. Almost everything has been sold to fund pinball. Only thing I have left that I use is a custom Clodbuster with all aluminum parts.

I have a bunch of drift cars and a vintage trans am racer

Careful! Next thing you know, you'll be buying, customizing, and hopping up RC cars. It will take away time and budget from your pin restorations

Back in the Early 2000s I was quite into touring car racing. I ran the early Associated TC3s. I ran a lot down in Huntington Beach. I went to a track a few months ago to check out the race scene and decided I didn’t have the time in my old age to get into that again.
